Fall 2015 FAQS Q:

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?

A:

We are currently accepting boys 8-13 (U9 Tumbleweeds, U11 Dust Devils & U13 Wildcats) and interested high school players. All youth players must be 13 or younger by August 31, 2015 to participate in the Fall 2015 Learn-to-Play Clinics. We hope to form a team (U15 Rattlers) for players not in high school, but too old to play on our youth teams. Interested high school players should contact Geoff Wheeler at [email protected] or Bill Klingensmith at klingensmith.iv@gmail to learn how they can participate.

Q:

WHAT EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED FOR PARTICIPATION?

A:

Participating boys are required to have the following lacrosse equipment:  Stick  US Lacrosse Approved Helmet  Gloves  Arm Pads  Shoulder Pads  Mouth Guard  Protective Cup  Cleats (soccer, baseball or football cleats acceptable, no tennis shoes please) West Texas Lacrosse will provide practice pinnies for clinics and registered participants will receive a West Texas Lacrosse t-shirt. We have a limited amount of loaner equipment available for first time players to try.

Q:

WHERE CAN I FIND LACROSSE EQUIPMENT?

A:

Big 5 Sports in Odessa and Academy Sports in Midland now carry basic lacrosse equipment. Currently, Big 5 is carrying Youth Starter Packs for West Texas Lacrosse participants. In addition, coupons/discounts will be available at registration or in-store for lacrosse participants. We expect a larger selection of lacrosse equipment to be stocked locally before the upcoming Spring season. For a larger variety of lacrosse equipment, LaxWorld.com has a special 15% off coupon for West Texas Lacrosse participants. To use this discount, enter coupon code 15TEXAS15. You may also find equipment online at www.lax.com and www.LacrosseMonkey.com. As interest and participation grows for West Texas Lacrosse, we will expand and have an equipment exchange program.

Q:

WILL THERE BE GAMES? WILL TRAVEL BE INVOLVED?

A:

At this time, West Texas Lacrosse has created U9, U11, and U13 Learn-to-Play Clinics. These clinics will include insruction on basic skills and game play. In the near future, we hope to have enough participants and coaches to create multiple teams in each age group and begin league play. In addition, lacrosse participants will have the opportunity to attend tournaments in the region if player participation allows. The U13 Wildcats competed in the Fiesta Tournament in Albuquerque, New Mexico in May 2015 as did the Midland High School West Texas Lacrosse Club. Such tournaments allow our participants to play and watch youth and high school teams from New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Texas.

Q:

WHERE WILL THE LEARN-TO-PLAY CLINICS BE HELD?

A:

The Fall clinics are planned for October on Sundays from 2:00 to 5 pm at Hogan Park South Fieldsacross from Sibley Nature Center, 1307 E. Wadley in Midland. Clinics times are subject. You can check the West Texas Lacrosse website for updates.
