We are offering an open embroidery class for anyone to work on a project of your choice or to catch up on an embroidery class that you have missed. E-mail Marcia at [email protected] if you have questions.
If you’re interested in learning how to quilt or need some help finishing up a quilt, come join us on Wednesday all day or for a half day. Each month we will explore a different feature of the software. E-mail Marcia and she will design her class to help you with one of your quilting projects. ~ Kari Gortemaker, Instructor ~ Free Motion Quilting Full Day Class $30 This class will be all about the quilting. It doesn’t matter if you have a long-arm machine or household sewing machine, this class will help us get that quilting done. We will practice on our sewing machines, as we can’t bring in our long-arms. Your machine must be able to do free motion work. We are going to be using muslin and batting. Bring your scraps, or purchase some at the store. (I suggest muslin, but bring other fabric scraps if you wish) We are going to work on several different patterns. It will all be practice, so NO PRESSURE!! Create table runners, mantle runners, lap quilts and more using equilateral triangles. Friday, Oct. 2 --- 9am -4pm Saturday, Oct. 24 --- 9am – 4pm
~ Patricia Pressler, Instructor ~ Learning to sew curves All Day $30 Plus supplies Join Patricia to learn accurate piecing and construction techniques to sew curved shapes, circles, arcs and other non-linear design elements. Curved shapes add movement and complexity to your quilt designs, and while they LOOK difficult, they can be created stress-free with the clever techniques you will learn in this class. We will be creating some sample blocks during class that you can take home for reference in the future. This class is best for confident beginners/intermediate skill-level quilters. ~ Kadi Jensen, Instructor ~ Borders and Beyond ½ Day $15 Plus Supplies Discuss the proper way to measure and attach borers. Show options for enhancing borders and bindings. New and exciting gadgets will also be discussed. Bring a quilt that needs borders or a quilt you want to use ric-rac or piping on and we will make it happen. Minimum of 3 people per session. Bring your sewing machine, instruction book, accessories, power cord, foot control, and a pair of scissors. You are eligible for this class free if you purchased your machine from Silver Thimble within the last year. Please call for appointment
Kids Sewing Class $15 Per Class We are offering a Saturday morning class from 9:30 to Noon once a month for girls and boys. Students must be 8yrs old and up. You will make a different project each month. If you do not have a sewing machine in good working order we can rent you one for $6 for each class. Class Policy Have you always wanted to take a class, but didn’t want to bring your machine? We have several machines available for you to rent in our classroom. Please make arrangements in advance.
Pre-registration is a must. A deposit of ½ the class fee is required when your register. Make checks payable to Silver Thimble Sewing Center. If there is any other class you would like offered or for more information, please contact us at 308-284-6838. 1. Pre-registration is a must for all classes. 2. You are not considered enrolled until you have paid the class fee by check, cash or credit card. 3. All fabrics for the class need to be purchased at Silver Thimble. 4. You will receive 10% discount on all class purchases. 5. If you must cancel a class, you will receive a refund only if you cancel three days before the class is scheduled to meet. 6. Silver Thimble reserves the right to cancel a class when there is insufficient enrollment. 7. Classroom machines are available for rent, but you must reserve one at the time of enrollment. 8.
