Risk Management News It is hard to believe it is already June! Summer is almost here. (Summer officially starts June 20) We just had a mini-heat wave to warm warn us of the hazards of summer! Please review the information below on identifying, preventing, and treating heat related injuries. Heat is one of the leading weather-related killers in the United States, resulting in hundreds of fatalities each year and even more heat-related illnesses. (noaa.gov)

If you must work in the heat       

Drink more fluids. Don’t drink alcohol or drinks containing large amounts of sugar. Stay indoors if possible. Wear lightweights, light colored, loose fitting clothing. Limit outdoor activity to morning and evening hours. Wear a wide brimmed hat and sunglasses. Watch for signs of heat stroke
