Dates to be determined by individual groups and coordinated with River Ministry Coordinator Vanessa Quintanilla Thank you for your interest and commitment to participate in the upcoming Disaster Recovery Mission Trip. Come for the week or for the day. No on-site registration will be taken due to capacity limits. Below is detailed information regarding this Disaster Recovery trip. Please read it carefully. Teams of 12 to 15 are needed weekly. Who Can Attend? Youth, college-aged students and adults, no children. (Youth may only work at the Food Bank) Registration: Sign up by going to For The Children click on Opportunities then Register to Volunteer. Registration Fees: There is a $15 registration fee per person required that covers accidental insurance, a name badge, a tshirt and back ground check cost. No on-site registration will be taken. Cost: The Hacienda can provide 3 meals and a dorm stay for $35/day depending on meal choices. With no meals, it is $20 per night in a dorm, depending on facility availablity. When calling to book rooms, group leaders should inform the office staff that they are coming to help with the Border Crisis. House in a local Missions Camp for 12 people with kitchen provided, low cost. 3. Work with Vanessa to stay in a local church for a donation only. 4. Local hotels, participants make own reservations.
Dress: Check the weather for how to dress before you pack, you will be working so pack work clothes. No short shorts or clothes considered revealing or inappropriate. Primarily all groups will be doing distribution sorting. Each participant should bring the following items: - work clothes that will get dirty - a pair of inexpensive leather work gloves - a pair of inexpensive rubber gloves - closed toed shoes - women will need to put long hair up First Aid: Groups need to provide their own first aid kits. Transportation: Transportation to and from the churches and to work sites is at the expense of the group/individual. This includes transportation to and from the worksites. Schedule: Participants will convene each day at 8:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, McAllen for breakfast, orientation and morning devotional. Groups will then be divided into worksites for the day.
