Boys Youth Lacrosse Program Changes • C3 will NOT be participating in the YLM Spring Season. • C3 will begin practices and hold evaluations for summer teams in mid-late April. (Weather permitting) • Preliminary dates for practices to begin is the week of April 17th. – Evaluations will begin April 24th. Exception: Evaluations for U14 will be held after the conclusion of the high school season. May 30 and 31. – New Age Group Breakdowns (discuss in a couple of slides)

Boys Youth Summer Lacrosse • All age groups U8/U10/U12/U14 will begin practice in April • Scrimmages with other local youth organizations will be held in May at all age levels • Evaluations will be held in April for U8/U10/U12 goal is to have 1 week of age group practices week of 4/17 and then have evaluations week of 4/24 • All teams within an age group will practice at same time/location • 8th graders playing high school. Yes they can play high school and then they can play C3 summer. They can not participate on any other team if they are playing with a high school team. No games, no practices. We anticipate most 8th graders who play HS will be able to join C3 at the end of May. There is no discounted fee for those 8th graders.

Age Group Breakdown

•U14 – Birthday between 6/01/2002 and 08/31/2004 – 9th graders are prohibited from playing – YLM POLICY •U12– Birthday between 09/01/2004 and 08/31/2006 •U10 – Birthday between 09/01/2006 and 08/31/2008 •U8 – Birthday between 09/01/2008 and 8/31/2010 Adopted by both MBSLA (Minnesota Boys Scholastic Lacrosse Association) and YLM (Youth League of Minnesota)

Age Division/Team Formation/Verification Team Formation The intent of C3 will be to offer an “A” team at the U12 and U14 age groups. If there’s more than one (1) team at the U8 and U10 age groups, even teams will be created. The same goes for multiple “B” teams at the U12 and U14 age groups. C3 will hold player evaluations in April.

US Lacrosse Age Verification Similar to previous seasons, each player must be a registered member of US Lacrosse. US Lacrosse membership information can be found on their website (uslacrosse.org).

US Lacrosse has implemented changes to their age verification process for 2017. Players must have a US Lacrosse membership to participate in MN.

Per US Lacrosse, “The US Lacrosse Age verification system supports the organization’s player segmentation policy, passed by its Board of Directors in January 2016. Player segmentation helps to ensure player safety, competitive fairness and a consistent experience for youth lacrosse.”

Steps to Verify the Age of Your Child 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Scan or take a photo of your son or daughter’s birth certificate or state issues ID. Click the button below and log into your USLacrosse.org account, not your child’s. Upload your scan or photo to USLacrosse’s online system. USLacrosse will review your documentation, record the birthdate in their system and then permanently delete your uploaded document. You’ll receive a confirmation e-mail, and you’re done. This is a one-time process that is good for the lifetime of your child’s membership.

Boys Youth Summer Lacrosse • New Age Group designation aligns with US Lacrosse and the YLM • A/B splits at U14/U12 only – A/B evaluations will occur in mid April – YLM games begin week of June 12th and conclude in late July – 10 game season (U10/U12/U14) – Playoffs/State Tournament for U12/U14 (state tournaments is July 29/30) • Season-ending jamboree for U8/U10 July 22/23

– 6 game season plus season-ending jamboree for U8

• All teams will participate in one weekend tournament – Included in registration fee – U14 A team may compete in a travel tournament (considering options) – NO YLM games will be scheduled June 30th-July 5th

Evaluations. What is being evaluated? C3 will use the same basic guidelines for evaluations as were used in 2016. We will be adding a special goalie evaluation in 2017. The following skills will be evaluated on a 1-3 scale: • Stick Skills • Shooting • Athleticism • Lacrosse IQ • Defensive Positioning • Attitude Evaluators will be made up of independent lacrosse professionals, high school coaches, players and board members if applicable to age group. *No board members will evaluate their child’s age group.*
