February, 4, 2017 College of Saint Benedict Junior Olympic VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT Haehn Campus Center 37 S. College Ave. St. Joseph, MN 56374-2099 Have questions call or email Site Director Amanda Anderson (W)320-363-5290, (C)320-241-7527 or [email protected] Pool Play/Warm-ups Gym opens at 7:00 a.m. Coaches: Check your teams in at the desk outside the fitness center in the field house. There is not a coaches’ meeting. Pools 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 will begin their first match at 8AM- Pool 6 will begin at 9am. There will be a 10 minute (2-4-4) warm up for each team’s first match only (if you are competing against a team that is playing for the first time in pool play you will still have a 10 min warm up even if you have already competed.) A 5 minute (1-22) warm up will follow for the remainder of competition. Four team pools will play matches of 2 sets to 25 no cap. Three team pools will play matches of 3 sets to 25 no cap. Balls are not provided for warm-up, please make sure to bring your own. Liberos can serve at this tournament. Playoffs Playoffs will follow immediately after pool play. Four team Pools: Top two teams from each pool will go to the Gold Division, bottom two teams from each pool will go to the Silver Division. Three team Pools: Top two teams will go to the Gold Division, bottom team will go to the Silver Division. All Playoff Matches will be: Sets 1 and 2 will be to 25 no cap. If needed, the 3rd and deciding game of a playoff match is to 15 points, switch sides when the first team reaches 8 pointsno cap. Champions in the Gold and Silver divisions will receive T-shirts. We will not wait to start a match according to the time it is scheduled. Playoff matches may start early and will begin immediately after pool play. Please keep your eye on the official score board. Division/Seed breakdown and placement in playoffs will be decided by: 1. Win/Loss 2. Overall Game Percentage in Pool 3. Point Differential 4. Head to Head 5. Coin Flip Officiating All teams are responsible for providing their own officiating equipment. For playoffs: The WINNING TEAM of the FIRST round of playoffs will officiate the next playoff match on that court. Thereafter the LOSING TEAM is obligated to stay and officiate. Any team late for an officiating assignment and/or competition will be penalized. These teams will lose a point for every minute they are late. Please check with the site director before you leave to make sure your team has no further officiating duties. In our region, coaches (or an adult registered with USAV who has been to an officials’ clinic) will be required to control the match as one of the referees within all age groups. At the 12s level, the first referee must be the coach (or an adult registered with USAV who has been to an officials’ clinic). Coaches and players are required to attend an officials’ clinic before officiating. The officiating team must provide a first referee or second referee, scorekeeper, libero tracker, scoreboard operator, and two line judges. If team members need a refresher on how to keep score, there is an on-line power point presentation/tutorial at http://www.ncrusav.org/ncrofficials/scoreclinic.asp Food McGlynn’s Sports Cafe, located upstairs above Claire Lynch, will be available from 8:00 AM to 8:00PM for your players and fans. There are no potlucks, coolers, or team dinners allowed in this facility. If any are seen by our tournament staff you will be asked to remove it from the premises. Concessions selling snacks, drinks, and dessert will be available for purchase as well as other merchandise. Sportsmanship/Conduct There will be no playing with balls (dribbling, passing, throwing, etc.) in the hallways. Also, please have no food in the hallways. There will be designated areas for food in the facilities. Ice will be available to use for any injuries. There is no trainer on site nor training materials. Parking/Directions All team members should park in Lot 10 or Lot 8. Lot 10 is located to your right when you take the main entrance into the College and Lot 8 is located on your left.
