Church Council Meeting Sunday, February 11th, 4 pm
I have been called a lot of names but no one has ever called me a new creation. Yet Paul calls us new creations, that is, if we are in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17). I believed it is ingrained in us to want to have a sense of belonging to something larger in life. This ultimately is a longing that only God can meet. The problem is that we are often deceived by the enemy and the trappings of the world. Even among Christians the enemy wars against God’s children. The good news is that there is one thing that dispels darkness; light. The Apostle Paul knew what he was up against with the establishment (the Jews) and the Newcomers (Gentiles). How did he keep doing what he was doing with all the opposition and the love of the world in the culture? First, Paul knew he could not do it (proclaim Jesus) in his own strength. He invited Christ into his weaknesses so God’s power would be made perfect (2 Cor. 11:9). Paul knew that as a new creation he must fully rely on God in the face of Jesus Christ. Second, others would see the illumination of Christ through Paul which ultimately would have an impact on them so many would be saved. Now that is being part of something larger in life. As new creations, this is what God intended for us as well. How does that look and not look, what are the obstacles, and just how are we to accomplish this mammoth task God has called us to? Do you want to see, I mean really see? Do you want to get beyond yourselves and see how, as new creations, we are to bear light? Then, I highly urge and recommend you come and join us for God’s message “In the Face of Jesus Christ”. May God shine His light in you as we journey together in His living presence. Blessings! (2 Corinthians 4:3-6) Yours In Christ, Rick

During the weeks to come, the Prayer Committee would like to share some truths about prayer that were taught by Dr. Alice Cullinan at the GCC Baptist Association. Also, copies of her devotional guide “Prayer: The Christian’s Anchor and Lifeline” are available in the prayer room off the front vestibule if you would like to pick up a copy.
“The Spirit was given to us both to pray for us and to pray through us. It is impossible for us to pray as we should if we are not vitally connected to and obedient to Him.”
