FJS Soccer, Inc. Division 1 Rules 1) Practice and game length a) 11:00 am game will have 30 minutes of practice, start by 11:30 and end by 12:30 b) Games will have 4 -10 minute quarters with breaks between each quarter. c) We suggest substitutions at every five minutes of play 2) Rules and enforcement a) Although calling offside should be avoided we recommend teaching the players some of the points of offside. b) Teach some technique on throw-ins but please do not stop the game nor change possession due to a bad throw-in. c) Corner kicks, goal kicks should be used where appropriate. Please ask the team awaiting a goal kick to give plenty of distance. d) Division 1 does not use Direct Kicks. e) Conclude all games with a handshake, stressing good sportsmanship. 3) Equipment and Safety a) All players are required without exception to wear the required safety equipment at all times, or they may not step foot on the field. b) All players in our league are required to wear shin guards and cleats. c) Goalkeepers are required to wear league supplied helmets or equivalent. d) NO jewelry shall be worn. e) Players with braces are required to wear a mouth guard. f) Removable appliances, (retainers) must either be removed or accompanied by a mouth guard. g) No hair ties or head bands, other than those made of fabric may be worn. Those made of plastic or metal must be removed before entering the field of play. h) Only league sanctioned size 3 soccer balls will be used during game play.

4) How many players on the field? a) This division plays 6 v 6. b) Typically 3 forwards, 2 defenders and 1 goalie.

5) Coaches ONLY on the field! a) This division needs coaches on the field as we do not use referees. b) No more than 2 coaches should be on the field for each team. c) Recommended is having one coach in each corner of the field, with a whistle.

d) Lastly, each coach should actually look to help ALL players on BOTH teams while play is in their section of the field.
