CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT ELECTIONS #DistrictElections Public Hearings:
The City of Santa Rosa has initiated the legal process to transition to district-based voting for council members. The City asks for your help in designing voting districts. A series of Public Hearings will be held to receive community input and direction from the Council will be used by independent demographers to inform the development of the district boundaries. All Public Hearings will take place at: Santa Rosa City Hall, Council Chamber, 100 Santa Rosa Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA 95404 Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 5:00 PM First Public Hearing to receive input from community members that will be used to draw preliminary district maps. Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 5:00 PM Second Public Hearing will be a continuation of the opportunity for community members to provide additional input to be used in drawing preliminary district maps. Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 5:00 PM Third Public Hearing to provide the public the opportunity to respond and make recommendations regarding the proposed district boundaries and the potential sequence of elections. Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 5:00 PM Fourth Public Hearing, Council is expected to select map to establish district boundaries, introduce an ordinance establishing district elections, and determine election sequence. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 5:00 PM Fifth Public Hearing, Council is expected to adopt an ordinance establishing district elections.

In addition to the Public Hearings, community members can also provide input online on what is most important to their neighborhoods, what neighborhood groups exist, and what areas they would like to keep together.
