Small Group Study Guide for the week of 10/25/15 Freeway series - Week #7 - Freedom Freedom is discovering that our pain has a purpose and that nothing is wasted in God’s Kingdom.

4. What does it look like for us in our journey toward freedom to “return back to the jar”?

Getting Started Throughout this series we have been uncovering areas of our lives that need attention. Areas of our lives we think are better off unseen, ignored, or left under the cushions. But God is revealing to each of us that He knows the number of hairs on our head and everything under our cushions. His desire is that we invite Him into our messy lives to make sense of the hurts and pain and to see our life stories as something beautiful to be used for His glory. So as we move forward, think about your life story and how God might use it to help another. 1. What parts of your story do you think go in the trash can?

5. What prevents people from receiving a second chance and living a free life? Why do people reject freedom and choose to stay “stuck”?

6. As you move forward, how can you be intentional about not going back into the jar of captivity to your past habits, perspectives, hurts, and hurdles?

Taking It Home Our wounded heart and our deepest pain is always the starting place for helping heal the world. 2. What might go on the platform to help others?

7. Your story is meant for others! List the types of people who would be helped by knowing your story and what you learned during tough times.

Now go and love, serve and share your life with these people!!

3. Is there anything you think God can’t use to help others? 8. Write some names of friends who need freedom just like you.

Getting on the Freeway! Read Isaiah 61:1-3: He has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to repair broken hearts and to declare to those who are held captive and bound in prison, “Be free from your imprisonment!” Have you ever captured a caterpillar in a jar and watched it transform into a beautiful butterfly? Once the butterfly was released did it ever return to the jar?

How could you best help them to be free?
