Small Group Study Guide for the week of 9/20/15 Freeway series - Week #2: Last week we sat on the couch, wondering what we’d find under the cushions if we dared to look. This week we take the first step towards actually seeing what is there. That first step is Awareness, a simple invitation to slow down, let blurry eyes see, and let a loving God quietly speak.
4. We all have been a Prodigal: rebellious, wanting to do things our way, given ‘supposed’ freedom - free will, and it not going well at all. But we keep running, staying busy, avoiding that moment of self-awareness. Think for a moment about what might be distracting you from looking in the mirror. Circle your top three daily distractions: TV Social Media ` Email Texting Internet
Small Group Stuff 1. Just in case you missed your group time last week, we’ve put the Small Group Promise on the back page for you to review and commit to. 2. Have you chosen a social coordinator? If not, now is a good time to do that. Take 5 minutes to brainstorm about possible group activities or service projects. Share with each other significant events coming up in your family that the group could support you or your kids in.
Getting on the Freeway! Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Psalm 139:23 3. As a refresher read Luke 15:11-20. Describe the events that lead the son towards self-awareness. • What did he want freedom from?
