Notices Parent Forum Just to remind everyone the first Parent Forum is on Monday 7 November at 2.30pm. Please come to the main entrance to sign in. We look forward to seeing you there. Year 6 The School nurse will be coming in on Monday 7 at 1.30pm to see pupils in Year 6 and measuring their weight and height. The Year 6 Class newsletter will follow by the end of next week. Children on site Please can children not be on School premises before 8.30am After School Clubs After school clubs start back on Monday. We have a couple of new clubs starting this term on Fridays they are: Dodge ball – KS2 Christmas Club – Years 1&2 Christmas Cards Please can all orders for your child’s Christmas card design be handed into their class teacher and be back in school by Friday 11 November. Breakfast Club Please could everyone return the Breakfast Club letter by Thursday 10 November. Open Day for Reception 2017 There will be 2 open days for Parent/Guardians to come and look round reception classes and speak to the Headteacher these dates will be: Thursday 4 November & Thursday 8 December.
The Big Spotacular This year’s Children in Need appeal is focused around SPOTS. We would like to invite all Yewdale children to come to school on Friday 18th November wearing spots. This could be a spotty T-shirt or trousers, spotty pyjamas or a Children in Need spotty outfit. We ask that children wearing spots for the day bring in a £1 donation that will go directly to Children in Need. School Council will be selling spotty biscuits for 50p each at break time.
Poppy Appeal Year 6 pupils will be selling poppies and other Remembrance Day products in school next week.

Vacancy Midday Supervisory Assistant (MDSA) YEWDALE PRIMARY SCHOOL, CARLISLE Pay Rate £7.88 per hour Permanent, to start as soon as possible 6¼ hours per week, Monday - Friday, Term time Relief Staff – hours as required to cover absence

Over the coming month Mr Lakin intends to make himself look more peculiar than normal. He will participate in Movember. Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of various cancers, such as prostate cancer. We just wanted to update all parents so, should they wish to contribute to the fundraising they are able to do so and reassure them that Mr Lakin does still have access to a razor! Should you wish to contribute please you’re your donation to Mrs Coulthard in the school office and the school will give all the contributions directly to the giving page on the Movember website. Mr Lakin assures us the more money raised the more ridiculous his ‘tash’ will become.
Facebook I am aware that parents use the PTA Facebook page, having seen the regularity of comments and number of views I believe this to be a positive method of communication. Therefore I have requested that a Facebook page be set up that the school can manage. Membership will be limited to parents of the school, but comments will be accessible to all. The same safeguarding rules will apply to Facebook as to all other facets of school business. The page is going through a couple of reforms and will be available from next week. Miss Pickthall will write to all parents next week to provide more information and next steps.
