A NOTE FROM OUR RECTOR Friends,

I would like to thank the Rev. Jocelyn Bell for serving as our supply priest this Sunday morning. I have known Jocelyn for three years now, and I have been thankful for her presence and ministry. I ask that you give her a warm welcome.

I will be away from the office next week. Please pray for my family and me as we travel. We are excited about time together to rest, relax, and catch up with our extended family. Should any pastoral needs arise, please let our church office know as soon as possible. Our pastoral team is ready to assist you in any way they can.

God bless you, Fr. Quinn+

St. Peter's Work Day: Saturday, August 5 You are invited to bring your gardening tools, drills, pressure washers, etc., and get ready to spruce up the Church and School before the students embark on a new and exciting school year. A light breakfast will be available and School parents will receive double volunteer hours. It's a great time to meet new families and reacquaint with older ones! Saturday, August 5, 8:00 am until noon.

Children’s Homily & Children’s Chapel Children are welcome to participate in all aspects of worship at St. Peter's, and we encourage parents of young children to sit near the front. This Sunday, all children will be invited to the front for a Children's Homily following the reading of the Gospel. Linda Cooper, Director of Christian Education, will offer Children's Chapel during the sermon, returning in time for communion. We also offer nursery care for children age 5 and under. The 9:00 am service resumes August 6.

Education for Ministry (EfM) EfM is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the Bible, church history, and Christian theology all in the context of a prayerful, intentional community. If that sounds interesting to you please be in touch with Fr. Quinn for information about the program and possibilities for a group at St. Peter's.

Request for Transportation A young man has requested a ride to St. Peter’s on Sunday mornings. He lives on East 16th Street downtown. For more information, call the Parish Administrator at 423-877-2428.

Sunday Noon Fellowship This Summer In thanksgiving for all our faithful Fellowship volunteers who provide refreshments so generously during the year, the Vestry will host the Sunday noon Fellowship all summer. Coffee, lemonade, and cookies will be provided in the Bracewell Room

after the 11:00 am service. A Message from the Flower Guild Just a reminder that many Sundays are still available this year if you would like to dedicate flowers for the altar in memory of a deceased loved one, in celebration of a special event, or in thanksgiving for a friend or family member. Check the poster in the Bracewell Room for openings. You may pick up a flower donation form in the church office or contact the Parish Administrator by phone or email. Please specify the date you prefer and whether you would like specific flowers or colors represented. The minimum donation is $35. Make checks payable to St. Peter’s Church and drop in the offering plate, bring by the church office, or mail.

Episcopal Churchmen Conference The 71st Annual Laymen's Conference sponsored by the Episcopal Churchmen of Tennessee will be held August 18-20, 2017, at the Dubose Conference Center in Monteagle, TN. Flyers for the conference are located in the foyer of the church. Registration can be made on line at Episcopal Churchmen of Tennessee (http://tnchurchmen.org). This is a great time for fellowship with fellow laymen from the Diocese of East Tennessee, Tennessee, and West Tennessee—lots of good food, activities, speakers, prayer, and just being on the mountain. Question? Contact Chip Stansbury or John Trieber.
