ENJOY seeing what regional students have learned about their waterways!
Student Research Symposium
CREEK CONNECTIONS is a watershed education project based at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA, emphasizing an investigation of local waterways. The project involves a hands-on, inquiry based, natural science education for about 40 different schools and 50 teachers. The culminating event each April is the Student Research Symposium where participating students across the region convene to share their research findings with each other and the public.
Each April, all participating Creek Connections classes join together to share their waterway research with other schools. Each school sets up numerous displays and poster presentations about their research projects and finds out what other schools have done. Displays are often very creative, fun, colorful, and professional.
The day is full of activity. Students may find themselves asking questions about another school’s water quality data, identifying aquatic insects, playing a game, or discovering ways to protect creeks.
