Happy Friday and Have a Happy Labor Day Weekend!

The season is in full swing and the pace of practices, games and other events is picking up. Overall, I am happy with the development of the program thus far, but our JV B and JV A Teams still have yet to earn a win. As they continue to grow and develop and learn from each other the wins will come too. I am excited about the rest of the season!!!

Practices and Games Attendance

FIVE GUYS FUNDRAISER WEDNESDAY 9/6/2017 FROM 3:00 PM TO 9:00 PM 15 % of all GROVES SOCCER MEALS WILL BE DONATED TO GROVES SOCCER. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SAY GROVES SOCCER AND EAT SOME FOOD!!!

The expectation is that every player makes it to practice, games and Groves Soccer events. When players are not at practice, not at games or other events, it puts a strain on the rest of the team. It hurts the coach as he has to change his plans for practices and games. Yes, we understand that family events are important, but we need all players and parents on board with attendance to practice and games.

WE PRACTICE ON LABOR DAY

Weather Updates This past week we experienced some poor weather and the communication from the program was not where I wanted it to be and for that I am sorry. We have since added a weather update page with the protocol for practice and game cancellations. In the event of poor weather please check the website throughout the day and if we make any changes a TEXT ALERT will go out to inform you and your family of the

GROVES SOCCER BOOSTERS Message from the President Thank you to all of our parents and players who, along with the coaching staff, make this such a great program. We have many parents (and players!) who help in one way or another, and each person's help makes a big difference!!!! It's good to hear that parents have hosted/helped with team dinners and continue to do so. The boys love it, and having them get together off the field helps build relationships and strong teams. Please come support the boys by coming out to as many of the games as you can. When they look up to the stands and see and hear Groves fans, it gets them pumped up. It really makes a difference for the players to know they have the support of friends and family in the bleachers (or on the grass!) cheering them on. Thank you for all you do.

IMPORTANT UPDATES Spirit Wear Spirit Wear should be ready next week. It will be shipped to you (if you paid for shipping) or it will be distributed to players at one of their practices. Bottle & Can Drive This weekend officially marks the start of the fundraiser. If your player plans to collect bottle & cans from neighbors the weekend of the 9th/10th, then flyers should be distributed this weekend. The last weekend to collect is October 7/8, so there is still plenty of time. However, the month of September will fly by. Please remind your sons to plan accordingly. Information about the fundraiser is in your parent handout and on the website (click on Handouts under the Main Menu). Please ask friends and family to collect, too! Heads Up to the JVB Families For the varsity tournament that Groves will be hosting on Saturday, September 16, we will be asking JVB families to help as ball boys and concession helpers. Normally JVA families would be assigned, but they have their own tournament in Flushing the same day. An email message asking for volunteers will be sent from Rick & Shannon Shebib and/or Kirsten Koza, Concessions Manager. Please volunteer if you can. Your help will be greatly appreciated! Five Guys Burgers & Fries Last but certainly not least, is the fundraiser on Wednesday, September 6. Stop in at the 12 Mile & Telegraph location (NW corner) from 3 to 9 p.m. (mention Groves Soccer), and 15 percent of your purchase will go back to the soccer program. We thank Brian Adelman, owner and father of one of our players Joey, for sponsoring this fundraiser.

Groves traveled to N. Farmington on Tuesday night where they faced a tough OAA opponent. Groves controlled the possession 55% to 45%, but N. Farmington had the better chances on goal with 14 total shots to Groves 6. Thanks to a great game in goal from Cristion Williams the Falcons were able to stay in the game and with 1:25 left in the 2nd half Isaac Thompson found Nick Restrepo at the top of the 18. Nick beat his man and fired a low left footed shot to give Groves the Victory. Great Game Falcons!!
