Fruit Strawberry: A soil pH level of 6.5 - 6.8 is recommended for strawberry plants. One of our top sellers, Jewel performs well over a wide range of growing conditions. Jewel strawberry is our #1 midseason variety, recommended for commercial growers and home gardeners. Jewel has large berries with superb quality and flavor. We have been very successful using Jewel for home gardening due to its overall quality and consistent performance. Plants have moderate winter hardiness. Care must be taken at renovation to maintain a good plant stand.
Blueberry: Soil pH level of 4.5 - 4.8 is recommended for blueberry plants. Blueberry plants bear fruit 1 year after planting. The following two types of blueberry plants are cell grown plants which provide a strong root system. The cell is 3”x7” and the canes are 14”. Blueberries contain high levels of Nutraceuticals, a substance providing a healthy benefit to the human body!
Bluecrop The leading blueberry variety grown and is especially popular on the East Coast and Michigan. It produces high yields of large, bright blue berries that are firm and grow in large clusters. The berry flavor is superb, fresh or frozen. Bluecrop is known for its hardiness, vigor and consistent production. The plant grows to a height of 4-6 feet.
Jersey Jersey blueberry is a late-season variety that is easy to grow, high-yielding, and one of the oldest and most widely grown blueberry varieties. The berries are dark blue, medium in size, and very sweet. A tall and well-shaped bush, it has excellent ornamental value.
Red Raspberry: This heirloom variety was long considered the standard variety for production and high-quality fruit by which fall-bearing varieties were judged. Heritage is a highly popular variety for home gardeners. The fall crop is highly productive and ripens from the end of August through October, depending on your location. The berries have good size, color and flavor. The fruit is good for jam and freezing and is delicious for fresh use, as well. A soil pH level of 6.5 - 6.8 is recommended for raspberry plants.
Blackberry: The Darrow Blackberry was developed at the New York Experimental Station to bring you the best in flavor and spectacular crops year after year. The berries themselves are exceptionally large and sugar sweet. One of the most winter hardy blackberries! Ripen early and continue over a large period.
Fruit Trees Peach: Red Haven peach is a beautiful red-over-yellow fruit, with yellow flesh that's firm, yet melting and delicious. Red Haven is an early season treat, a favorite for eating, canning and freezing. Very productive, needs thinning, has never failed to set a crop for us even in rainy weather. Non-showy flowers. Not for warm winters. Soil pH Level of 6.0.
Vegetables Jersey Knight Asparagus: One of the New Jersey asparagus hybrids, Jersey Knight is extremely vigorous, has large, succulent spears, and quickly attracts a loyal following. The flavor is excellent, and the plant is resistant to rust, crown rot and fusarium. It also performs equally well in heavy, clay-like soils. A soil pH level of 7.0 - 7.2 for asparagus plants is recommended. Asparagus plants produce a light harvest in the 2nd year, a larger harvest the 3rd year, and a full harvest in subsequent years. Best in Zones: 3 – 8. Freezing quality: Excellent.
Horseradish: We have selected the horseradish strain "Big Top" for its size, vigor, wide adaptability and resistance to foliage diseases, rust and bacterial spot (all common problems in horseradish). These horseradish plants are top performers; a few roots will last a lifetime.
(Vegetables, continued) Rhubarb: MacDonald rhubarb has vigorous upright growth, large tender stalks, and root-rot resistance. We have selected this rhubarb strain for its excellent production for commercial growers and home gardeners. This very vigorous, upright growing strain produces large, tender stalks and has acceptable red color. Shows resistance to root-rot problems.
Evergreens Evergreen Bundle: Grow your own holiday decorations. The spruces are deer resistant, the firs make gorgeous, easy-to-grow windbreaks and the white pine is our own native evergreen. Two of each-comes with planting directions: Colorado Blue Spruce, Douglas Fir, White Spruce, Frasier Fir, and White Pine.
Native Plants When native plants introduced into landscape the plantings are hardy, less susceptible to pests and diseases and unlikely to escape and become invasive. Because maintaining native plants requires less work, they provide excellent choices for large commercial landscapes as well as residential gardens.
