Monday 15 December 2014 Dear Parents and Carers, th

th

On Thursday 27 and Friday 28 November, Ofsted inspected our school. I am now attaching the final report for your information. As you will see from the report, the judgements given by Ofsted remain exactly the same compared to our report of 2013. We have been judged overall as “requiring improvement” with a “good” judgement for behaviour and safety. Whilst we are all incredibly disappointed with this overall judgement, the report is very positive and clearly highlights the significant progress the school has made in the last 18 months. Comments in the report include:    

Standards at the end of all key stages are rising. Teaching is improving and standards at the end of each key stage are now steadily rising. Staff in the Early Years Foundation Stage work well together. They ensure that children settle quickly and learn in a safe environment. School assessment records, confirmed by inspectors’ scrutiny of pupils’ work, indicate that the upward trend at the end of Year 2 and Year 6 will continue and that all groups of pupils are on track to reach higher standards in reading, writing and mathematics than those achieved in 2014.

As I have stated already, we are very disappointed that the significant progress made, as highlighted in the report, was not enough for us to secure a “GOOD” judgement this time – despite Her Majesty’s Inspector’s own recommendation in September 2014. However, myself, Sara White, the Leadership Team and our whole staff are absolutely determined to keep working hard to make Temple Hill the very best it can be. We will not be giving up on our desire to make Temple Hill a “GOOD” school – and we certainly strive for it to be “OUTSTANDING.” Our children deserve no less. I will be holding an Ofsted briefing in the New Year, when I will go through the report with parents in more detail, as well as outlining our plans for addressing the key issues highlighted within the report. I urge parents and carers to read this report, paying particular attention to the significant positives, whilst at the same time understanding the work that is already taking place in school to address the key issues of improvement. I would like to thank my whole Temple Hill team for working so hard for the pupils of this school. I would like to thank those parents that have offered their support to the changes we have been implementing at Temple Hill – and most importantly, I would like to congratulate our pupils for working harder than they have ever worked before, achieving higher standards, year on year. Yours sincerely,
