Give Thanks for Cheryl Zeh and Mary Maynard - August 6 Two very special people conclude faithful service as staff members at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church the end of July 2017. It will be hard to find words to fully express our appreciation to Cheryl & Mary who shared their time, commitment, and skills with kindness and love. We give thanks that as they leave the staff they will both continue to be part of our community at Our Savior’s. Please plan to attend a reception in their honor on Sunday, August 6, following the 9:30 a.m. service.
Communion Pew Cards You may notice something different during communion. We are no longer using communion cards! The welcome pads will remain in the pews for visitors and people requesting a pastoral call or to leave any contact information.

Greeting
Confession and Forgiveness L: Blessed be the Holy Trinity, one God, full of compassion and mercy, abounding in steadfast love. C: Amen. L:
Trusting God’s promise of forgiveness, let us confess our sin against God and one another. Eternal God our creator,
C: In you we live and move and have our being. Look upon us, your children, the work of your hands. Forgive us all our offenses and cleanse us from proud thoughts and empty desires. By your grace draw us near to you, our refuge and strength, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. L: Since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit given to us. In the mercy of Almighty God, Christ died for us while we still were sinners, and for his sake, God forgives you all your sins. C: Amen.

Prayers of the Community
C: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
First Reading Psalm 86:11-17
Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart to revere your name.
C:
I give thanks to you, O LORD my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever.
L:
For great is your steadfast love toward me; you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.
L:
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
Old Testament, page 544
L:
C:
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
O God, the insolent rise up against me; a band of ruffians seeks my life, and they do not set you before them. But you, O LORD, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.
C:
Turn to me and be gracious to me; give your strength to your servant; save the child of your serving girl.
L:
Show me a sign of your favor, so that those who hate me may see it and be put to shame, because you, LORD, have helped me and comforted me.
L: Lord, in your mercy,

Apostles’ Creed
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
L: May God, whose power working in us can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine, grant you the gifts of faith and hope. Almighty God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, bless you now and forever. C: Amen.
