GCHS TURF PROJECT

FROM THE GCHS STADIUM IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE The Grove City High School Stadium Improvement Committee is a volunteer group comprised of civic and business leaders, alumni, parents, and community members. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization our mission is to provide Grove City High School and the local community with a modern, high-quality, and safe, synthetic turf field. The installation of a synthetic field will allow for a broad program of sports, recreation, activities, and events. The current grass field is greatly underused and ill suited to serve the needs of our growing school and neighborhood. The installation of a synthetic turf field will decrease maintenance costs and create revenue for GCHS, the school district, and the community at large. Redevelopment of the stadium and the field will positively impact Grove City, allowing for hundreds of school, local, and state events to be held annually in our new facilities. Stage one of our stadium improvement, the TURF Project, is under way and we are actively seeking corporate, local, and individual sponsors to meet our fundraising goal. Your generosity and time are greatly appreciated and will make a difference in our hometown. Sincerely,

Donald Breckenridge Co-Chair

Thomas D. Rutan Co-Chair

Installation of a synthetic turf field will provide a first class multi-purpose facility to maximize the use of the Grove City High School stadium in a way that will benefit student athletes, sports teams, marching band, and the entire community.

SYNTHETIC TURF TURF FACTS • Made with resilient materials for safety, synthetic turf sports fields provide a uniform and consistent playing surface. • Traction, rotation and slip resistance, surface abrasion and stability of synthetic turf meets the rigorous requirements of the most respected sports leagues and federations. • Synthetic turf fields exponentially increase playing and practice time because they can be used daily and in all types of weather, without worry of damage. • The field can be used within hours of installation and can handle the wear and tear of a variety of sports.

SYNTHETIC TURF ADVANTAGES The need for a multi-use athletic field at GCHS is tremendous. With multiple sports teams, bands, and physical education classes using the facility, a synthetic turf field will allow for more usage. Synthetic turf can be utilized around 3,000 hours per year with no “rest” required, more than three times that of natural grass. Synthetic turfs save 500,000 - 1,000,000 gallons of water each year. According to the Ohio High School Athletic Association, 33% of Ohio high schools currently use synthetic turf.

*According to the Synthetic Turf Council www.syntheticturfcouncil.org

Of the 32 schools in Grove City High School’s league, 18 already have synthetic turf fields. Installaton of synthetic turf will allow us to keep pace with league partners and improve possibilities for our school.

BENEFITS TO OUR SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY SCHOOL BENEFITS Provide all boys’ and girls’ athletic teams space for games and practice. Increased revenue due to hosting multiple athletic events and band invitationals. Band practice may take place on the field instead of the parking lot. No events or practices would have to be canceled due to inclement weather or muddy, unsafe fields. Outdoor space for Physical Education Classes.

We’re counting on you; our community, friends, family, and fellow alumni for your generous support to bring the TURF Project home!

COMMUNITY BENEFITS Improved stadium for hosting several annual events; Autism Foundation Clinic, Working Dog Trials, GCKA Championship Day Hosting State play-offs for multiple sporting events.
