The bake and broil units can be serviced from the front. Both units use straight push on terminals. The clearance hole in the oven liner is very tight and care must be taken in pulling the unit into the oven not to knock the terminal off. If this happens the unit must be removed from the installation.

The Temperature Limit/Hot Light Switch performs two functions: 1. Turns on HOT LIGHT when the Surface Unit Switch is turned on. The hot light will remain on until the glass surface above the heating unit has cooled below 150°F (even after surface unit switch has been turned off). 2. Detects when glass temperature above a unit has exceeded its limit of approximately 1031°F and disconnects power to that unit. When glass temperature cools below 1031°F, the unit will turn back on. The temperature limit/hot light switch cannot be calibrated.
The Hot Surface Indicator Light will turn on when the surface unit switch is turned on. When the glass temperature reaches 150°F, the Hot Surface Indicator Light will stay on to alert the consumer that the glass surface is too hot to touch. The Hot Surface Indicator Light is turned off by an additional set of contacts within the temperature limiter.
2. Fully open the door. 3. Push the hinge locks up against the front frame of the oven cavity, to the locked position. 4. Close the oven door.
Temperature limiter and hot surface indicator light switch
Air enters the door assembly through large slots in the bottom and flows upward between the inner and outer assemblies, exhausting through slots in the top of the door. DO NOT INSULATE THIS AIR CHANNEL. To Service Full Glass Door 1. Complete door assembly: • Remove three screws from the bottom door frame • Remove two screws at the top of the door on the liner • The liner assembly and outer glass panel assembly can now be separated 2. Outer glass panel assembly: • Remove four screws from the side posts at the bottom • Remove four screws from the side posts at the top near the door vent trim • Slide the bottom trim and top vent trim out to free the outer door glass Note: On some doors the bottom trim is sealed to the outer door glass and cannot be separated 3. Liner assembly: • Remove three screws on each side of the door liner to remove the door hinge assembly • Remove four screws from the insulation retainer • Remove insulation retainer and then the insulation • The window pack and window gasket are now accessible, on units with a window door

The door gasket is clipped into the liner of the door panel. To Service Gasket A 6" gap must be left in the gasket at bottom of door. The gap is required to provide air flow in the oven for proper baking results.

Cooktop Removal Floor-Concrete
The cooktop is fastened to the front frame by two (2) screws. Remove the 2 screws and lift the back edge of cooktop upward (no more than 1 to 2 inches) to unhook the cooktop hinge from the backguard pins. Pull forward. Unplug harness and unscrew ground wire located at rear of cooktop. Lift cooktop off. NOTE: Raising cooktop too high can break the glass.
Control Voltages The following voltages must be present on the control board: TERMINAL VOLTAGE L1 to N 120 Volts (all the time) Control Trans. L1 to BAKE 240 Volts (knob in “OFF” position). L1 to BROIL 240 Volts (knob in “OFF” position).

4-WIRE CONNECTION 3-WIRE CONNECTION NOTE: Effective January 1, 1996, the National Electrical Code requires that new or rewired construction utilize a 4-conductor connection to an electric range. The Radiant Heating Element is an assembly consisting of the heating coils, insulation, surface temperature limiter and a metal mounting base. The 6-inch elements are 1500 watts, 8-inch 2000 watts.
The control panel contains the ERC infinite heat switches and oven light switch. To Service: 1. Remove 2 screws (from bottom) securing control panel to the backguard. 2. Remove 2 screws at the top, in the back of the range. 3. Pull bottom of panel out while lifting panel up. 4. Lay panel on cooking surface. CAUTION: Place protective covering (such as towel) between control panel and cooking surface to avoid damage to control panel.

NOTE: Display will show temperature selected for 5 seconds then return to time of day. To recall temperature, press down MIN pad.Oven control with time of day clock and timer. Fixed clean time (4 hours 20 mins with last 40 mins cool down). To Adjust Bake Temperature: The bake temperature can be adjusted + or -35°F in 5° increments: 1. Press and hold both the increase and decrease hour pads for about 4 seconds. Display will change from time of day to show “00” or last setting. 2. Raise or lower oven temperature by using the hour increase/decrease pads. 3. Approximately 5 seconds after temperature is changed, the display will return to time of day and oven is ready for use.
ERC FAILURE CODES FAILURE CODE -F2-
MEANING
OVEN OVER TEMP
• Door unlocked - sensor exceeded 650°F. (2237 Ohms) • Door locked - oven exceeded 902°F. (2700 Ohms) REMEMBER: ERC measures resistance of sensor circuit, not actual oven temperature. DURING CLEAN • Lock switch opened and sensor in excess of 650°F. Open/ (Over 3100 Ohms) Sensor-Shorted (Under 500 Ohms) NOTE: A “Flashing” preheat light when the knob is in a position other than “OFF” indicates a faulty Sensor Circuit. Check the circuit. -F3-F4-
CORRECTION If actual over temperature condition occurred: • Look for welded relay contacts. If no over temperature condition occurred: • Look for a high resistance connection or any other cause of high resistance in the sensor circuit. (Intermittent Sensor or Sensor Circuit)
Measure Sensor circuit Resistance at sensor/ lock switch connector with connector unplugged (should read approx.1100 Ω at room temperature). Measure lead to lead and each lead to chassis ground. If Open/Shorted Circuit look for:
• Open/Shorted sensor - measure directly across sensor (pull sensor leads into oven approx. 10". Unplug and check sensor. • Cut or pinched sensor harness wire. • Loss of terminal contact at ERC/or sensor plug. • One or both sensor leads shorted to ground. If Circuit Appears to be Normal (Approx 1100 Ω): Re-install sensor disconnect plug to ERC and measure sensor resistance and solder joints on back of ERC circuit board. If circuit is open problem may be in the connector block. Remove terminals from block and reform to restore contact pressure.
Storage Drawer Removal To Remove: 1. Pull the drawer out until it stops. 2. Lift the front of the drawer until the stops clear the guides. 3. Remove the drawer. To Replace: 1. Place the drawer rail on the guides. 2. Push the drawer in until it stops. 3. Lift the front of the drawer and push in until the stops clear the guides. 4. Lower the front of the drawer and push in until it closes.

Door Latch Mechanism The latch mechanism is thermally operated. When the latch handle is moved to the clean position the latch hook engages into a slot in the oven door. As the clean cycle progresses, the increase in oven temperature causes a bi-metal coil on the latch mechanism to expand. This expansion causes a cam to rotate into the path of the latch mechanism thus locking it into position. The door locks when the oven has reached a temperature between 560 and 600 degrees F and will remain locked until the oven has dropped below these temperatures (560-600 degrees F). L1

IMPORTANT SERVICE INFORMATION DO NOT DISCARD
The relay sequence cycling is set so that only one heating unit at a time can be turned on. The control cycles between the Bake and Broil units during all modes of operation except Broil (Broil unit only). Clean Mode — Broil unit only is on until oven reaches 750°F. Control then alternates between bake and broil units throughout balance of clean cycle. The last 40 minutes of clean time is for cool down (no heating units will be on). NOTE: Check bake & broil unit voltage when the control is calling for heat. Allow enough time for control to switch between heating units (could be up to 2 mins).
