SLOPPY JOES Here’s how to make about seven sloppy joe sandwiches.

______1.

Get browned ground meat (turkey or beef, about 1 pound), fat drained. Get pan. Get one 15.5 ounce can sloppy joe sauce. Get a can opener, if needed. Get spoon. Get long handled spoon. Get 7 hamburger buns or rolls, split in half. Get about one pound browned ground turkey or beef, fat drained, a pan (either a different, clean one, or the same one used to brown the ground meat), one fifteen and a half ounce can of sloppy joe sauce, a clean can opener, if needed, a clean spoon, a clean long handled spoon for mixing, stirring and serving, and seven buns or rolls, split in half.

______2.

Keep meat in same pan used for browning. Or, put browned meat into a new pan. If you’re not using the same pan the meat was browned in, put the browned meat into a pan.

______3.

Careful! Open can. Using the can opener or the pop top lid, open the can of sloppy joe sauce. Throw away the lid.

______4.

Put sloppy joe sauce into pan. Using your one hand, hold the can around the middle and tilt it down and over the pan. Pour the sauce into the pan. If needed, use your other hand and the spoon to spoon out the sauce from the can and into the pan. Throw away the can.

______5.

Careful! Mix. Using your one hand, hold the pan so that it’s steady. Using your other hand and the long handled spoon, carefully mix together the ingredients in the pan until well blended. Try to mix slowly and carefully to keep all of the ingredients in the pan.

______7.

Turn on stove to medium. Turn on the stove burner to a medium heat.

______8.

Careful! Stir. Cook about 12 minutes. Using your one hand, hold the pan so that it’s steady and safe. Using your other hand and the long handled spoon, occasionally stir the meat mixture every few minutes while it is cooking. Cook the meat mixture for about twelve minutes.

Each sandwich should have enough of the meat mixture (about one quarter cup) to cover the bottom half of the bun or roll. ______11. Put on top half of bun or roll. Put the other half of the bun or roll on top of the meat to make your sloppy joe sandwich.
