What does the idea of a cornerstone for a building illustrate? ii. Peter quotes from Isaiah 28.16 in verse 1 Pet 2.6. a. How do you get the benefits of the cornerstone? b. What will the cornerstone offer? iii. Peter quotes from Psalm 118.21-26 in 1 Pet 2.7-8. a. What does this say about the “Cornerstone” and “God’s Promised King”? b. Security// see 1 Pet 2.6, 7: What is one benefit of being built on the Cornerstone that is Christ? p.s: See 1 Peter 1.18-19: What has Jesus accomplished for you? Unpack this quote from Luther: “They try to do good of themselves in order that they might stand before God clothed in their own virtues and merits. But this is impossible. Among us you were one who held this opinion, or rather, error. So was I, and I am still fighting against the error without having conquered it as yet. Therefore, my dear brother, learn Christ and him crucified. Learn to pray to him and, despairing of yourself, say, ‘You, Lord Jesus are my righteousness, just as I am your sin. You have taken upon yourself what is mine and have given to me what is yours. You have taken upon yourself what you were not and have given to me what I was not.’”
