Give Endangered Animals a Voice! Make your mark on the world this month by advocating for animals across the globe! Use these projects to get started: 1. Our project of the month to start a letter writing campaign to advocate for endangered animals. 2. Have your friends and neighbors over for a film screening to raise awareness about animal welfare! 3. Help your local shelter get animals adopted! Service Spotlight: Teens in Action With the help of four friends, 10-year-old Sthavir created his own "Pennies For Parrots" fundraiser to help the birds at Zazu's House Parrot Sanctuary in Woodinville, WA. Sthavir and his friends were able to donate $260 to Zazu's House as a result of their fundraiser, which Sthavir said was "a big success" and he is "excited to [host] another one next year." Youth Making a Difference Daily Point of Light Award honorees Abby and Riley Neff are making sure kids in Sioux Falls, SD have access to art supplies, one crayon at a time. They collect crayons from the community every 2-3 weeks and melt them down to create new crayons for kids in need. “I want to break the cycle of poverty and help kids stay engaged and inspired to learn,” Abby said. Grants & Resources Youth Service America is awarding $500 Disney Be Inspired Summer of Service grants to 250 youth volunteers to begin a project or expand your impact throughout the rest of the year. Visit YSA's website to apply for a Disney Be Inspired Summer of Service grant by September 30.
