Glenwood Athletic Boosters Meeting Board Meeting: October 14, 2015

Board Members present: Buennemeyer, Dierkes, Hobbie Members Present: Marci Small, Zach Thornton, Alec Dierkes, Peggy Watkins, Linda Leighton, Lorie Meyers

Buennemeyer called meeting to order at 7:00 at the GMS cafeteria. Approval of Minutes  No minutes were presented for approval. Treasurer’s Report: Dierkes reported  Provided financial report for YTD August 2014-July 2015 and for YTD August-September 2015. Balance as of October 14th is $61,281.19. Spiritwear Report: Hobbie reported  Linda Leighton agreed to pick up GT Titans yard signs and go around to local business to try and sell them and have them displayed on their property. Sales of spiritwear for the months of August and September have been steady. Most proceeds have been reinvested back in new spiritwear. The store at Greco Graphics is fully stocked with new inventory. Will plan to set up a booster table at upcoming boys basketball games. Marci Small will reach out to Jeff Loftus to discuss purchasing scarfs from him that he designed. Concessions Report: Buennemeyer reported  Report on concessions at both GMS and GHS for the fall. Discussion regarding concerns at GMS football games and need for more food to be provided. Volunteers given authority to order food as needed and pay out of cash. Needs to be coordinated with concession coordinator to make sure duplication of ordering is not happening. 

Discussed the proposal by 2018 Class representative Ms. Althoff to either co-purchase or rent a slushi machine that they plan to buy and sell slushis during lunch hours. Consensus amongst the group is to possibly rent it for an upcoming basketball or possibly football game to try it out and see how it would work for us. At this time we are not interested in co-purchasing it with that group.

Proposal to purchase as new inside concessions popcorn machine for roughly $2,000 (exact cost to be provided at a later date) Seconded by K. Dierkes. Motion passes.

Report and discussion regarding recent Pack the House during the homecoming football game sponsored by the Student Council. Long lines were a problem in regards to handing out free popcorn to those wearing school colors. Consensus amongst those present was that in the future, if the proposal is made by the student council for the Athletic Boosters to support this program again, that we will respectfully decline as it did impede our concession efficiency quite a bit.

Report on the District’s Pepsi contract and how it applies to the Boosters. Todd discussed speaking with Russ Clover from the District and plans to have more information once the contract is evaluated.

Several fundraising ideas were passed around. Nothing specific was decided. We hope to have a lead person take charge of the discount cards again this year as it has proved to be quite equitable in the past.

We will provide concessions for the Special Olympics on April 23 rd and May 7th.

Meeting adjourned at 9:04 p.m. Next board meeting is scheduled for November 18, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at GHS commons. Respectfully Submitted, Molly Hobbie, Secretary Glenwood Athletic Boosters
