MAKE IT FUN

Prepare to offer one or more of the following activities as your preschoolers arrive. Let one or two teachers lead small groups of children in activities throughout the room while another teacher greets parents and kids at the door.

• Partner Tasks • Big Helper, Little Helper • Friendship Chart

MAKE IT TRUE (LARGE GROUP) • Worship • Introductory Sketch • Bible Story

MAKE IT STICK

These activities are designed to help preschoolers understand and remember today’s Bible story and Bottom Line. Offer as many of the following activities as your time, facilities, resources, and leadership allow. You may want to lead one activity at a time. Or, offer two activities at once and allow half the kids to participate in each, then switch groups and repeat the activities.

Verse with a Friend The King’s Table Flipping Cookies “Together” Song I Help My Friends

MAKE IT REAL

Make It Real is designed to help preschoolers understand how the Bottom Line applies to them. They’ll discuss real-life experiences and share prayer requests. Divide kids into small groups of about five to eight children with each leader. Ideally, assign the same small group leader to the same group of preschoolers for the entire year.

PARTNER TASKS

“Partner Tasks” is an activity that uses gross motor and cooperation skills to introduce the Bottom Line. WHAT YOU NEED: Items already in your classroom WHAT YOU DO: During the Activity: Pair kids up with partners. Instruct them to lock arms with their partners. Once in pairs, assign each pairing a simple task, using items you have on hand. Tasks: Turn a chair around. Pick up a chair and move it to another table. Pick up a crumpled piece of paper. Carry a doll to designated location. Stack three blocks. Roll a car across the room. Each of you hop on your left foot from point A to point B (select two spots about three feet apart in your classroom).

“Two people are better than one. They can help each other in everything they do.” Ecclesiastes 4:9, NIrV

WHAT YOU SAY: During the Activity: “Today, I want you to work together to complete some simple tasks. Please lock arms with your partner. You must stay with your arms locked together as you complete these tasks. Are you ready? Okay, let’s go!” (Do the tasks listed above.)

BIBLE STORY FOCUS

After the activity: “Great job, everyone! You can unlock your arms and have a seat. Let me ask you a question. Did you have to work together to complete these tasks? Absolutely! Good friends help each other, just like you helped your partner get your job done. We’ll learn more about how good friends work together during our Bible story today.”
