lighting - a well-lit area may deter vandalism
TOOWONG
legal art and murals - vandals seldom attack the work of other artists
Bywong St, Terrace St
paints and coatings - always keep extra paint of the same colour as your walls, fences and other painted surfaces
graffiti resistant surfaces - try to avoid plain, smooth surfaces or fences

Removing Graffiti Rapid removal is the most effective way to prevent graffiti reappearing because it reduces the recognition that graffitists crave. It also shows that the affected area is being monitored and looked after.

Prior to removing graffiti it is advisable to photograph the damage and forward it to the Police. Be sure to record your name, the location of the graffiti and the date. This allows the Police to monitor particular tags and identify the responsible offenders.

Vehicle registration plates are often overlooked as an item of value. Stolen registration plates are used to disguise a vehicle in order to commit crime and are also used on unregistered vehicles to make it appear as if the vehicle is registered. Regularly check your vehicle to see that both plates are still in place. If they have been stolen, report the theft promptly to local police. Registration number plate theft is inconvenient, frustrating and costly as victims have to report the theft to police and then attend QLD Transport to purchase replacement plates. Consider having one-way screws fitted to your vehicle in order to make it more difficult for your number plates to be removed by thieves. Contact the Brisbane West District Crime Prevention Unit on 3212 4576 to have free one way screws attached.
