Dear Prospective GFCHS Student, Great Futures Charter High School for the Health Sciences (GFCHS) is recruiting students for its ninth grade (9th) class. All students who are Jersey City residents are eligible to apply. Students will be expected to actively engage in their learning, focus on high academic success, get involved in service learning and community service activities, and participate in career-related experiences and internships in the health sciences field at Robert Wood Johnson/Barnabas Health Jersey City Medical Center. Students are projected to meet high academic standards and graduate in four (4) years having completed a comprehensive curriculum of 120 course credits. The goal of GFCHS is to prepare all students for success in college and the 21st Century workplace, focusing on healthrelated careers/professions. Students need to complete the attached registration form and submit it to GFCHS no later than 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. Registration forms should be hand-delivered or mailed so that they are received by the deadline date. Late and/or incomplete registration forms will not be considered for entrance. Faxed/emailed registration forms will not be accepted. Upon receipt of the completed registration form, you will receive an email/letter confirming its receipt. Completing the registration form does not provide automatic admission into the school. If the number of student registrations does not exceed the number of available seats, students will be accepted based on entrance criteria established. If the number of student registrations exceed the number of available seats, a public lottery will be held. Note: If the lottery does not need to occur, parent(s)/guardian(s) will be notified by March 17, 2018 via email/letter that their child has been accepted for 2018-19. Registration for accepted students will take place Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 9:00-2:00 and Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 4:00-6:30 at the school. Final registration is in-person and parent(s)/guardian(s) must bring their child and the documents listed below. If a lottery needs to take place due to the number of registrants, it will be scheduled for Wednesday, March 15, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. promptly at the Boys and Girls Club at 225 Morris Blvd., Jersey City, NJ 07302.
