Valley Park Go Green Cricket Field

SickKids Heatwave 2013

On October 8, the Valley Park Go Green Cricket Field held their official groundbreaking ceremony, and Greenwin was there! As a proud sponsor of their mission to create a multi-use youth and adult sports field that will help generate pride and a sense of belonging among new Canadians, our CEO, Kris Boyce, was happy to be on hand at the ceremony. We are excited to see this important project get started!

a Huge Success Greenwin employees broke out their hockey sticks in early October to take part in a cause close to all of our hearts, the SickKids Heatwave 2013 Indoor Ball Hockey and Soccer Tournament. We had a great turnout for both the ball hockey and soccer teams, with all funds raised going towards childhood cancer research at the SickKids Foundation. We are very proud of all of our employees who took part in this wonderful event.

in the news cont’d... Anthony Bennett

From Jane and Finch to the NBA Anthony Bennett, the 20-year-old rising NBA star, grew up right here in Toronto in the Jane and Finch neighbourhood. Bennett was the first overall draft pick in the 2013 NBA entry draft, a first for a Canadian player. Bennett spent a lot of his free time when he was growing up at the Jane and Finch Boys & Girls Club, a place that he holds very dear to his heart. After being drafted by the Cavaliers, Bennett returned to the Boys & Girls Club that gave him so much to offer inspirational words to a new generation of kids: Stay in school, work hard and get good grades because “getting that degree from high school or college, it puts you a long way.” In one of his first pre-season games with the Cavs, Bennett expressed how proud he is to be from Jane and Finch. "I've gotta do it for Toronto," he told reporters afterwards. Bennett even sports a Toronto-themed tattoo so he will always carry his hometown and the neighbourhood of his youth with him. Like many Torontonians and Canadians, we are excited to see Bennett in action on the court this |season and beyond. Canada's basketball future is brighter thanks to this talented young man with Jane and Finch roots.

Kris’ Korner: With October now an almost distant memory, time is counting down rapidly to the holiday season. But before we get there, it’s important that we take the time to slow down, reflect and remember all of our veterans who have helped to shape our country. Remembrance Day is our opportunity to thank those who have fought for Canada - please take the time to pay your respects, however that may be. And don’t forget to wear that poppy with pride! At Greenwin, it’s not just community building that we pride ourselves on - it’s team building, too. That’s why we held a team building session for our executive team in October, expanding on the importance of leadership while drawing on inspiration from current media, both social and otherwise. Harnessing the power of social media is important for both ourselves and our residents, and we continue to work hard to reach out and stay connected. Finally, as the cold weather approaches, I want to remind everyone to stay active. Snow encourages us to stay inside where we will be warm and toasty, so you can take this opportunity to try some new indoor fitness routines. Whether it’s hot yoga, Pilates or simply getting in some time on the treadmill, challenge yourself and try something new! You’ll be glad you did.

Kris

Wishing you all a happy and healthy November!

Here We Grow Again!

We’ve had a lot of movement and growth this month, so here is a warm welcome to all of our new team members!

Congratulations to our very own Adriana Keresztes, who has been elected as a director to serve on the Board of the Greater Toronto Apartment Association for the term beginning in November 2013 through October 2016.
