Groundsperson (Arb/Chainsaw Licence) VPS Grounds Services – Hook Hours: 40 hours per week Salary: £16,342 - £18,784 per annum (Dependent upon experience) + potential overtime At VPS Grounds Services we provide a wide range of grounds care and maintenance services throughout the UK, to both public and private sectors. You will report to the Contracts Supervisor/Team leader and be responsible for implementing and monitoring all aspects of arboriculture works under their responsibility, ensuring works are carried out in a timely manner and to the required standards as directed by the contracts supervisor/team leader; and in accordance with the contract specification. Key Skills Responsibilities: Perform arboricultural work including but not limited to groundwork, chipping, stump grinding, hedge cutting, strimming and tree planting. Help develop skills of operatives under their responsibility. Understand and comply with daily briefings issued by the Team Leader and Supervisor. Ensure that the relevant tools, equipment and PPE required to perform work are in place and used in accordance with company procedures and Health and Safety guidelines. Use PPE in line with company procedures and Health and Safety guidelines. Load vehicle with the correct products, equipment and PPE for the day’s tasks, unloading van and securing equipment on return to the yard. Keep the site clear and tidy at all times. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Regulations. Contribute to ensure daily productivity targets are met. Driving Company vehicles to and from sites as required. Ensure that all plant, machinery and vehicles necessary for the delivery of the contract are available on a daily basis, maintained to the correct standards, are in good working order and kept in a clean and presentable condition. Undertake documented daily checks of vehicles, equipment LOLER and plant within their team. Create a positive safety culture where everyone works efficiently and safely, risks are mitigated and injuries to do not occur or are a rare occurrence. Provide a responsive and professional service to customers, dealing promptly with issues arising and escalating immediately to the Team Leader/Supervisor/CM as appropriate. Carry out all duties in a manner and style that reflects the Group’s values and respects all employees and customers. Skills/experience needed: CS30/CS31 – Chainsaw Licence - Essential Full clean driving licence - Essential Good working knowledge of Grounds Maintenance/Arb industry experience or a strong interest and willingness to learn Proven experience of working within a contracting environment. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing at all levels. Effective smartphone user. Enthusiasm and drive to develop a career in the horticultural industry.
