GROUP STUDY QUESTIONS Hebrews: The Supremacy of Christ He Cam e To Show Us - Luke 8:22-39 Read Heb. 1:1-3. What do these verses teach us about part of the reason God took on flesh in the person of Jesus Christ? What does Heb. 13:7 tell us about Jesus? What does that mean to us, and why is it important for us? Read Lk. 8:22-25. Why do you think Jesus rebuked the disciples for being afraid? Why do you think Jesus led them into this storm? If Jesus was the representation of God – and if Jesus is the same today – does that mean God will sometimes lead us into storms? If so, for what purpose? Do you think all the “storms” in our life are from God? Why or why not? What does this story teach us about God’s activity in our lives when we are in “storms?” The disciples witnessed the power of Jesus over nature, and next the witness His power over evil. Read Lk. 8:26-33. What do we learn about God through the way Jesus deals with this man? Do you think people can still be enslaved by the enemy in areas of their life, or was this just a first century phenomenon? Why or why not? Read I John 3:8. According to this verse what is part of the reason that Jesus came to this earth? What does that mean? Why do you think Jesus asked the demon its name? Is there any significance that it was called “Legion”? Why do you think Jesus allowed the demons to go into the pigs? Read vv34-37. What was the reaction of the people to what Jesus did for this man? Why were they not excited that a man got set free? Why did they not beg Jesus to come and set others free? Why did they ask Him to leave?

Do you think churches today can be guilty of not wanting Jesus to move in certain ways because it’s messy, costly, or “un-dignified?” Read vv38-39. Why did Jesus not allow this man to come with Him?
