GROUP STUDY QUESTIONS The Armor of God Part 1: The Belt of Truth (Ephesians 6:10-18) Read v10. What does it mean to be strong IN THE LORD and IN HIS MIGHTY POWER? In the Greek this is a command. Paul is saying, "You, strengthen yourself in the Lord!" Why is this so important? Why do you think we so often attempt to fight our battles in our strength? Why are so many prone to believe Satan's lie that they will never be able to change? That's just "how they are?” Read Luke 10:19, 2 Peter 1:3, and Romans 8:11 and discuss the power that we have been given in Christ. How do we practically use this power in the heat of the moment? Read Ephesians 6:11. What does it mean that Satan has schemes against you? Why is it important to recognize his schemes? Read v12. Who is our actual struggle against? Why is this so important to understand? How do you think this could save and help many marriages? It would appear based on v12 that Satan has a highly organized army of fallen angels bent on our destruction. Why do so many Christians today sometimes struggle to believe the reality of Satan and demons? Do you think it is part of Satan's scheme against the American church to help us only half believe in him? Why or why not? Read v13. This is the second time Paul tells us to put on the full armor of God. The first time was in v11. Both times he tells us to put this armor on so that we can take our stand against the devil. In v11 it's to take our stand against his schemes, and here it's to take our stand when the day of evil comes. What do you think he means by the day of evil?

What does he mean when he tells us to take our stand? What does it mean to stand? Why is this crucial to our Christian lives? How does this armor help us stand? The first and foundational piece of armor God has given us is the belt of truth. This means truth – absolute truth – is foundational to our warfare. That truth is two fold…one - Jesus is the truth (see John 14:6) and two - His Words are truth (the Bible - see 2 Timothy 3:16). Why are these two truths foundational for our warfare? Do you find it ironic that in a culture that doesn't believe in absolute truth, due to the influence of moralistic relativity, that it is the foundation of our warfare? Why or why not? How can we know (besides our personal experience) that Jesus is the truth? Is His resurrection from the dead enough proof that is He the Truth? Can you think of evidence that His resurrection is a historical fact? Can you think of evidence that the Bible is true (again – besides from personal experience)?
