ERGAnalytics Classroom Analyst - GLOSSARY Performance Indexes in the Classroom Analyst Student Achievement Index (SAI) – This is an achievement measure. It is the average percent correct on a standardized assessment for all students within a measured unit such as campus or teacher. Learning Growth Index (LGI) – This is a how ERG calculates growth. It is the growth in learning of a single student. The LGI is calculated using the period to period (normally annual) change in individual student Z-score after taking two assessments. Z-scores are calculated using a population of students who took the same two tests in the same school district. Teacher Achievement Index (TAI) - Average of student LGIs. This is the measure of the cumulative growth of all of a teacher’s students.

ERGAnalytics Classroom Analyst - GLOSSARY
When viewing the any matrix in the ERG suite of tools, because we use indices and rankings, high growth is at the bottom of the matrix and high achievement is on far the left. For more information on rankings, please refer to the definition for “Ranking” on the following page.

ERGAnalytics Classroom Analyst - GLOSSARY Statistical Measures and Performance Tools Z-Score – Measure of where any individual test score is in a population of students taking the same test. Z-scores are measured in increments of standard deviation. A Z-score of 0 indicates a score at the mean of all test takers. A Z-score of +1 indicates a score that is 1 standard deviation higher than the mean. Delta Z-score (Also LGI) – Absolute change in individual student Z-scores over two periods. An LGI of 0 indicates learning growth at the rate of the population as a whole. Positive LGI indicates learning growth faster than the population as a whole. This is the measure used to define growth.
Ranking – Performance measures at all levels within ERGAnalytics are ranked. 1 is the highest rank. Ranking is a well understood performance measure and it permits the combining of performance measures (e.g. pass rates and graduation rates) with different dimensions to create an index. For the Classroom Analyst, all ranking is scaled from 1 to 100. If a district has 50 teachers, they would be ranked 2,4,6,8…etc. If a district has 10 campuses, they would be ranked 10,20,30,40,…etc.

Campus Performance Matrix (Type 1) – Campus performance by a single subject and grade relative to other campuses in the district. This view is only seen by those with District Administrator accounts. In this instance, the red dot would represent the district average for that particular subject and grade level, and each green dot would represent a campus that taught that same subject and grade level o X-Axis – Student Achievement Index (Average percent correct) o Y-Axis – Teacher Achievement Index (Average of student LGIs) Campus Performance Matrix (Type 2) – This view is seen at the Campus Administrator account level. This Matrix would show all grade levels for a particular subject. In this instance, the red dot would represent the average growth and achievement for all Math subjects/grade levels taught on the campus, and each green dot would represent the individual grade levels e.g. Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry and TAKS 11. o X-Axis – Student Achievement Index (Average percent correct) o Y-Axis – Teacher Achievement Index (Average of student LGIs) Teacher Performance Matrix – Relative performance of all teachers in a district for a particular subject and class. In the Campus Report, the district/campus average is the red dot, and each green dot is a teacher. o X-Axis - Student Achievement Index (Average percent correct) o Y-Axis. - Teacher Achievement Index (Average of student LGIs) Copyright Education Resource Group, Inc. 2005-2013.
