FAY SCHOOL Head of Upper School, Grades 7-9 Beginning July 1, 2017 Description The Head of Upper School oversees all aspects of Upper School programs and activities, with a focus on student life, student conduct and discipline, and residential life. This position requires several fundamental talents and skills: the ability to establish an appropriate vision, effective tone, and clear expectations for the Upper School; the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, including the Head of School, other senior administrators, and members of the faculty and staff; the ability to communicate with parents in a clear and timely manner; and the ability to supervise and support faculty in meeting standards of excellence in teaching, advising, reporting, and parent communication. The Head of Upper School is one of three division heads. He or she reports to the Head of School and is a member of the Head’s Administrative Team. The Dean of Residential Life, Residential Life Coordinator, three Class Deans, and an administrative assistant report to the Head of Upper School. This position is full-time with benefits, including campus housing. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have at least seven years of middle school teaching experience and at least five years of administrative leadership experience in independent school settings. Experience in a boarding school environment is essential, and work with international students is beneficial. A master’s degree is strongly preferred.
