Turning potential into excellence 01543 452518 www.shire-oak.walsall.sch.uk The academy is situated at the junction of the A461 (Lichfield Road) and the A452 (Chester Road). It is not readily visible from either of these roads, however, since it is obscured by the Shire Oak public house. The main entrance to the academy is reached from the A452 via Adams Road and St Marks Road. There is a staff only entrance from the Lichfield Road but the gates are shut between 9.00 and 2.40 daily.
TRAVELLING TO THE ACADEMY Shire Oak Academy is at the northern extremity of the Borough of Walsall. We are also close to Brownhills.
BY CAR From the North, leave the M6 motorway at junction 12 and follow the A5 to the junction with the A452 at Brownhills. Proceed to Adams Road — just before the junction with the A461 at Shire Oak. From the South on the M6, leave at junction 5 and follow the A452 towards Brownhills until you meet the junction of the A461 at Shire Oak. Adams Road is next on the left after this junction. From the M42 an alternative would be the M6 TOLL. From the South on the M5, exit at junction 7 and follow the A34 to Walsall and via the Ring Road join the A461 to Brownhills and Lichfield. Turn left at the Junction with the A452. Adams Road is next on the left after this junction. Important note: Visitors relying on satellite navigation should use WS8 7AQ (St Marks Road) as the post code and not WS9 9PA (Lichfield Road). All visitors must report to the gatehouse
BY RAIL or BUS The academy can be reached by bus from Birmingham, Lichfield and Walsall. Visitors coming to the area by train will probably need to change at Birmingham New Street station and catch one of the frequent connections to Walsall station. From there it is a short walk to the bus station.
VISITORS FIRE RULES A continuous bell signals an evacuation of the building. You MUST leave the building and make your way to the: CAR PARK BY THE ST MARKS ROAD ENTRANCE
