S WA p rov id e d ur b an d e sign an d lan ds c ap e architectural services for this mixed-use development, which includes a 620-foot hotel/office tower, a twelvestory courtyard housing block, and a five-level retail podium. The development is integrated with an adjoining subway station, which includes a sunken forecourt sheltered by a glazed water plane that offers transparency to the activities and movements below as well as views of the tower above. The development is set on a great stone plinth elevated above the surrounding streets and the openspace corridor to the east. Allées of street trees form a large-scale continuous green canopy along the main boulevard, and water curtains and water planes over glazed and stone surfaces offer dramatic reflections of the tower as well as transparency to the lush garden court below.
