A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION REVIEW COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BENICIA APPROVING THE WINDOW REPLACEMENT AT 303 WEST J STREET (17PLN00034) 7. REGULAR AGENDA ITEM 8. COMMUNICATIONS FROM STAFF Ms. Di Battista reported that the Certified Local Grant application to update the DHCP Design Guidelines was successful. The agreement will go to City Council, a Request for Proposals will be initiated, and the project will start in October and must be completed in October 2018. She said the City will match the funds ($37,500.00) through staff time. Ms. Brekke-Read stated that the HPRC will be involved. Ms. Brekke-Read congratulated Commissioners Haughey and McKee for being reappointed to the commission, and thanked them for their continued service to the City. She encouraged the Commissioners to contact her or staff with any questions. In response to Chair Reynolds, she said staff has not progressed on the HPRC’s workplan and has not started a planner recruitment. Ms. Brekke-Read reported an update on the Foundry. She said City Council decided to retain the original mediation group and mediation is moving forward with the City Attorney. She added that Chair Reynolds and Planning Commissioner Macenski brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to the mediation. 9. COMMUNICATIONS FROM COMMISSIONERS Commissioner Haughey thanked Ms. Di Battista for her work setting up the Historic webinars and for her copious note taking. She asked for updates on the Masons building and the Paper Tiger building. She said the house on West J and 2nd Streets looks as if work has stopped for quite a while. She asked for a clarification on Building Code with respect to timelines of building permits. Ms. Brekke-Read said the Masons’ building permit (106 West J Street) is ready to be issued and that the contractor has been notified. She said Paper Tiger (901-903 West First Street) is in plan check and staff is waiting for the applicant to respond to comments. She explained the permitting and inspection process that allows a building permit and construction to continue over time. Chair Reynolds inquired about a member of the Historical Society who attended a past meeting and had asked to have the Von Pfister building agendized. In response Ms. Brekke-Read said that the request was forwarded to the Parks and Community Services Department as it is a City property. 10. ADJOURNMENT Chair Reynolds adjourned the meeting at 6:53pm.
