Principal’s Corner Welcome to Term 2, we especially welcome the new families joining the Holy Spirit School community. Term 2 is a term filled with Fete Fever, NAPLAN and Year 6 Camps just to name a few of the items on the calendar. To keep you informed of current events and activities we have posted a Term 2 calendar on our website. Today we celebrated a liturgy of remembrance in honour of ANZAC Day. In our liturgy we acknowledged the sacrifice of others so that we may live in a free and peaceful country. This week is an extraordinary one. We commenced the week with the joy of Easter Sunday and conclude with ANZAC Day. The story of the Resurrection and the story of the ANZACS are great examples of sacrificial love. Both stories have the same simple message of 'love' and 'sacrifice'. This message for most of us is not lived to the same extreme as Jesus or the ANZACS, it is however evident in our daily actions. Whether you go that extra mile for the elderly relative or neighbour, work longer hours to provide for your family or get up early to take a child to swimming training, each sacrifice is a sign of love even though it may not always feel like an act of love! While these daily actions do not generally require the same bravery and courage as that of the ANZACS they are great reminders of putting others first. On Friday, a small group of students and staff will attend the Dawn Service and our Year 4-7 students will march proudly to pay tribute to our defence force - past and present. Congratulations to all students involved in these events. Thank you for being a sign of love.
Geraldine Egelton Principal.
God of love and liberty, We give thanks today for the freedom we enjoy in this land. We remember those who in time of war faithfully serve our country. We pray that we and all the people of Australia, gratefully remember their courage and their sacrifice, We pray for their families, and for ourselves whose freedom was won at such a cost. May we have the grace to live in a spirit of justice, of generosity, and of peace This we pray in the name of the one who gave his life for the sake of the world: Jesus Christ. Amen.

FUN RUN DAY WITH JAVID BOWEN Javid Bowen, our Adopt a Cowboy, had a great morning watching and encouraging all of the students running in the Fun Run. He was most impressed with the team spirit, war cries and dancing. Javid helped Mr Docherty with the presentation of medals to the Age Champions and the overall trophy to the Brannigan BLUES.
Javid visited Prep B to say hello and see the fantastic wall display of the Cowboys. The Prep children had written sentences on the beautifully coloured footballs. Prep B had been learning about the letter and sound “J”. Javid can jump. Javid can jet ski. Javid can juggle. Javid can jive. The Preps did such a good job, Javid has promised to spend a lot longer with them on his next visit to Holy Spirit. (He was going home to practise his juggling and jiving). Maybe we will see these skills on the footy field.
FUN RUN DAY WAS SUCH A GREAT DAY!
