God, give me a humble heart, give me a modest heart, give me a heart like yours.

Our Vision Background/History Honduras is deemed to be the second most impoverished country in Latin America. A large percentage do not have access to public schools due to overcrowding, or private schools because they can’t afford the tuition. These young people who can’t finish their studies are entering the world of drugs or illegally leave for the U.S., and a small percentage get paid jobs where they are exploited. The purpose of the Honduras United Methodist School Scholarship program is to reach out to the poorer children/families in the communities which have a Methodist Mission presence and provide school age children with the necessary essentials to attend school.

Goals & Objectives

As a result of an educational experience that otherwise would not have been achieved, young adults will be eligible/ qualified for jobs that provide greater compensation.

They will be able to provide goods and services for their families that would otherwise have been unobtainable.

Through their relationship with pastors and coordinators, we trust the children will develop a stronger faith and deeper commitment to Christian principals & Christian character (love, mercy and forgiveness).

This educational experience should also translate into better informed citizens allowing them to play a larger role in the political system in their country through the election process.

1. Provide the necessary tools and equipment required for these children to attend school. 2. Encourage them, pray for them and provide as much support as possible so that they might successfully complete their school work. 3. Observe a monthly time of Bible Study, prayer time and time of sharing with coordinators and other students. 4. Provide a picture and information to their sponsor back in the U.S. 5. Increase interest in the Honduras United Methodist School Scholarship program through the Advance Special project guide, having information about the project shared with work teams and provide information to Methodist mission conferences around the U.S.
