C C O N T Samaritan’s Purse Volunteer Teams Bring Relief and Comfort to Sandy A Victims in New York and New Jersey C T BOONE, N.C., Nov. 5, 2012—As residents along the East Coast struggle to recover from the :fury of Hurricane Sandy, disaster response teams from the international Christian relief and evangelism K organization Samaritan's Purse are on the ground offering assistance and encouragement to a devastated communities. r i The organization is working closely with local churches in the New Jersey counties of Atlantic,n a on Ocean and Bergen, and Nassau County in New York. Hundreds of volunteers are putting tarps

roofs, cutting fallen trees, cleaning debris and removing mud and water from flooded homes. Relief P efforts are focused on those who are least able to help themselves - including the poor, elderly and e uninsured. t e

"We are here offering our prayers and our helping hands for the victims of this ferocious storm," r said Samaritan's Purse President Franklin Graham, who visited storm survivors in Ocean County, s New Jersey, on Saturday. "The destruction is overwhelming, and the people desperately neede our n help. They need our prayers, and they need our support." The organization deployed four Disaster e Relief Units from their North Carolina headquarters. These tractor-trailers are stocked with n emergency supplies including chainsaws, tarps and generators. Each unit serves as a base of@ operations for Samaritan's Purse staff and volunteers. s a m Since 1998, Samaritan's Purse has mobilized thousands of volunteers to help more than 25,000 a families impacted by natural disasters in the U.S. by providing emergency supplies and cleaning, r repairing, and rebuilding homes.
