Hydroponic Farmer – Part Time Job Summary: The Pinellas Sheriff's Police Athletic League, Inc. is a 501c(3) not-for-profit corporation that works with at risk children. We are looking for a person to oversee part time operations of our hydroponic farm, work with community groups, other nonprofits and the general public. We are seeking an innovative, strong leader to manage day-to-day operations and help expand business opportunities. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys hands-on growing activities with expertise in all aspects of crop production including purchasing supplies, propagation, potting, fertilizing, watering, pest and disease management practices, and maintaining environmental controls. Other duties consist of business development & marketing, providing customer service, implementing inventory control, and ensuring the upkeep of equipment and facilities. The Crop Manager will be responsible for the day to day planning, oversight and operation of up to 10,000 plantings in accordance with standard operating procedures and best practices in farm management. This role will include the management of all resources necessary to operate and maintain the crop growing operations including monitoring, testing, quality control, feeding, harvesting and sales. This role will further involve driving forward initiatives focused on cost effective improvement of farm management practices, yield and quality. Job Requirements: • Regulate plant nutrition and fertilizer to ensure that unique nutritional needs are met for each plant variety over the course of changing seasons and periods of plant growth; • Oversee the integrative pest management program including recommending and implementing all pest and disease treatments as necessary; • Monitor and approve inventory required for production; • Plan all crop schedules by facility, season and variety to optimize yield and quality and communicate schedules to greenhouse team for labor management and sales team for harvest forecasts; • Design & maintenance of irrigation systems • Designing and managing commercial hydroponics systems • Inventory management • Data analysis & reports • Excellent communication and organizational skills • Ability to work with volunteers, community groups, children, and school groups • Planting, and harvesting • Equipment operation and maintenance

• Building and grounds maintenance • Crop maintenance Essential Physical Requirements: • Be physically capable of hard work, in often less-than-ideal weather conditions • Be able to work well unsupervised, as well as being part of a team • Be able to interact in a professional and friendly manner with customers • Be on time and ready to work • Be able to work weekend hours • Be eager to work flexible hours • Ability to read, communicate, and accurately complete all assigned tasks • Ability to freely access all areas and location of the business • Ability to bend, pull, and lift up to 50 lb. Education & Experience Requirements: • Be well organized and capable of detailed record keeping • Possess a strong work ethic; be dependable and eager to work and learn hydroponic and controlled environment crop production • Be safety conscious at all times, and a possess a fair degree of common sense • Possess a valid driver's license • Ability to identify and properly use hand tools and power tools • An agricultural background is preferred, but will train the right applicant Other Requirements • Must pass a Level 2 Background Check, Fingerprinting, and Polygraph through Pinellas County Sheriff's Department. • No illegal drug use in past 6 months.
