[email protected] 7 September 2016 Dear Parents In addition to the clubs run by Sports 4 All, and as part of our commitment to an enriched curriculum, the teachers would like to offer the children the opportunity to participate in additional lunchtime and after school clubs. These will commence in the week beginning 26 September. Cross Country Running Club (all ages), run by Mrs Kemp, will be at 12 noon on Thursdays (only in the run up to cross country events), and Ukulele Club (Years 3-6), run by Mr Kemp, will be at 12.30pm on Fridays commencing on Friday 16 September. On Wednesdays, from 3.30pm -4.30pm, Mrs Kemp would like to offer a Floorball Club in school for Years 2-6 so that more children can have the opportunity to learn this exciting game. This is for children who do not play on Fridays at the Sports Club. That will still continue. Also on Wednesdays, from 3.30pm-4.15pm, Mrs Ryninks would once again like to offer the opportunity to children in Years 3-6 to join our ‘Minimus: Starting out in Latin’ Club. This is a fun and entertaining course based around a real family who lived at Vindolanda in 100AD. It provides a lively introduction to the Latin language and culture of Roman Britain using comic strips, stories and myths and aims to develop pupils’ language awareness. This beginner’s course will continue next term when hopefully, those children who followed the course last year will re-join us. Some children prefer to undertake their home learning in a structured environment and so we provide a weekly Homework Club for Key Stage 2 children; this is held on Wednesdays from 3.30pm - 4.30pm. Mrs Heath will be supervising the club this term. For children who enjoy developing their creative talents through making things, on Thursdays from 3.30pm-4.30pm, Mrs Evans and Mrs Warmington will be running a Craft Club (Years 2-6); Miss West is offering a Science Club (Years 2-6), with lots of hands-on investigations for young scientists! Please return your slip (attached) as soon as possible as clubs are allocated on a first come first served basis. A full timetable of clubs can be found overleaf. We look forward to lots of enjoyable club sessions over the coming term. Ilmington C of E Primary School
