YEAR 6 FOOTBALL Congratulations to the Year 6 boys’ football team who made us all suffer, but eventually won their cup final 4 – 3 with three minutes to go of extra time! The picture at the top of the page shows the victorious squad. In their finals, the girls came 4th in the city which is also an excellent achievement. CONGRATULATIONS TO YEAR 6 – AGAIN! Because they absolutely destroyed the SAT papers last week. Yr 2 SATs are all teacher assessed and therefore ongoing, but those children are doing really well too! ACADEMY MEETING Thank you to the Parents who attended Wednesday’s meeting, have sent me their thoughts online, have spoken to me 1 – 1 or sent the form back to school. As the consultation period technically closes today, the Governors will be taking all of the views expressed into account at their meeting on Wednesday June 4 th. So if you have something that you want to say, you’d better do it quickly! MONITORING RESULTS The final set of the year is being sent home today. Remember: Red block = starting point last September Dark green = end of year target Light green = target achieved Yellow = progress towards target Yellow blocks beyond the light green ones indicate a target has been achieved and passed. For children who have not achieved their target yet, we have half a term in which they can do so. For those who have, or gone beyond it-jolly well done!
SAMBA BRAZIL! Mr Gough has written his own World Cup Song which is available for free download at www.classdynamix.com. If you’re lucky you can find a version of our Yr 6s performing the song on the site. Nice moves boys! WORLD CUP PREDICTION COMPETITION Sheets should have been brought home today for parents, friends etc to study form and enter our prediction competition! Or – just stick a load of numbers in – and enter anyway. Give yourself a competition name (didn’t “Betsy Fun Bus” do well last time?!) and make sure we have a contact phone number in case you win. There is a space on the form to put your £1 entry fee. All proceeds to PGL: there will be a £20 prize for the winner. The scoring system is shown on the sheets: after each set of games the leader board will be put onto the school website as it is all done via and Excel spreadsheet. If you need to photocopy the sheet for multiple family entries feel free, or ask for more at the office. Entries by Thursday 12 th June 9.00 am at the latest! UKELELE Teaching materials used in the Year 3 and 4 ukelele sessions are available to download from www.bensiddallmusic.co.uk ATTENDANCE Congratulations to Yr 2 who are the best class this half term, with 99.7% attendance. Five classes had attendance over 99%: which is excellent. Yr 1 had the lowest attendance with 95.4%. PARKING I’ve been asked, yet again, by a very irate parent to mention that parents shouldn’t park their cars on the zig zag lines outside school. You all know this, yet so many of you persist in doing it and angering fellow parents. YEAR 3/4 FOOTBALL Graham Rennison, dad of Lee in Yr 3 would like to do some football coaching session with Year 3 & 4 children on Saturday mornings at 8.30am on the field on the right hand side of Stonegate Rd as you go up it. These sessions will start on Saturday 7th June. QUIZ NIGHT An excellent night was had by all and the Yr 6 PGL fund benefited by £353. WORLD WAR 1 DAY This was scheduled for today but we are doing it on Thursday 5 th May instead. MURDER MYSTERY NIGHT We are doing a Murder Mystery night for Macmillan cancer support. It should be good with food included in the ticket, raffle and quiz. Adel players are really good. Please see the flyer sent along with the newsletter. Good home needed for an all black cat, approximately 1 year old. Any enquiries 07834 711156

HALF TERM This morning I had the privilege of being a surprise guest at the Leavers Assembly for Year 13 at Abbey Grange. As one of the girls said, I was there on their first ever day of formal education, so it was highly appropriate that I should be there for the last! I don’t remember them being that tearful on their first day though or anybody texting me afterwards to invite me out for a drink tonight!! Good luck to all of our former pupils taking public exams this year: we’re with you in spirit and thought, willing you to be brilliant. School closes today for half term. Re-opening on Monday 2nd June. There is no Training Day attached to the holiday: Our next one is FRIDAY 27th JUNE. Enjoy the holiday!
