Fabric:

I used three different fabrics. You will need good quality 100% cotton, small prints or solids. Please cut and prepare the fabric as instructed below before class. From fabric one, for the lining and inside pockets you will need one 8 ½ x 8 ½ inch square, and two 8 ½ x 8 inch rectangles. Fold the 8 ½ x 8 inch rectangles to measure 8 ½ x 4 inches. Press the fold line well to crease. (I used a black and white paisley print) From fabric two, for the contrast front pocket you will need one 8 ½ x 6 ½ inch rectangle, folded and pressed to measure 8 ½ x 3 ¼. Fuse a piece of interfacing, 8 ½ x 3 ¼ to one side of the folded rectangle. Fusible no show mesh stabilizer may be used instead of interfacing. ( I used a solid black fabric) From fabric three, for the back, the back pocked, and the pen pocket you will need one 8 ½ x 8 ½ inch square for the back. Fuse a piece of interfacing to the wrong side of this piece. For the back pocket, you will need one 8 ½ x 6 ½ inch rectangle, fold and press to measure 8 ½ x 3 ¼. For the pen pocket, you will need one 7x3 inch rectangle. Fold 1 ½ inches down (wrong sides together) and press so that the rectangle measures 5 ½ x 3. Press well. Fold this rectangle in half so that it measures 5 ½ by 1 ½. Press well. (I used a black small floral print)
