Pauline Tolbert retires adapted no matter the assignment. She has been the driving force as we address the needs of our communities as well as the needs of our employees.

Many times we recognize and show appreciation to those that are in the spotlight and overlook those behind the scene. Today we want to “spotlight” and show our appreciation to a woman that has loved and taken care of us for over 30 years. Pauline Tolbert’s contribution have been front and center in the success of the agency and our mission. She was originally hired in September, 1980, as a temporary employee to do a community survey for a Senior Citizens Transportation system, which has grown into one of the agency's largest programs. In March of 1982, she was hired full time as Executive Secretary for INCA Community Services and has held that position for the past 28 years. Her job description and title has changed over the years and she has

As the agency has evolved over the years, Pauline has “endeared” herself by “enduring” us all. Through the years she has touched every program INCA has. She assisted in the preparation of grant applications, funding packages, proposals, and organized necessary data for submission of reports, grants or special projects. She kept our records; made certain the agency followed regulations, policy and procedures and faithfully served as the Board’s Secretary. Pauline has been our insurance guru, and has saved thousands of dollars for the agency year after year, by finding the best insurance and assisting countless number of employees with their claims. Pauline has been our unofficial information bank. When asked a question, whether from the Executive Director, the employees, the Board of Directors or mem-

bers of the public, if she didn’t know, she found out or found who did. Pauline has served as an example of an exemplary employee through her dedication. For thirty years we have counted on Pauline to be on time, to be there when we needed her, to train us right, and to remind us our purpose is to help others.

Every agency needs and anchor and Pauline Tolbert has been ours. As she pulls up her anchor with us and sets sail for new adventures. We send with her our love and appreciation for all she has given the agency, our communities, and us. Thank you from all the staff at INCA Community Services. We will miss you.

SPECIAL PROJECTS IN JOHNSTON COUNTY BY RENA PAYNE In October we survived another “TOY RUN” and lived to tell the tale. We took in over $400.00 and 20 plus toys. The bikers came from all over and they brought their appetites with them. We had chili, stew, chicken and dumplings, beans, cornbread, hot rolls, cinnamon rolls, cakes and of course fritos, shredded cheddar, onions and absolutely everything you could want. Everything was homemade except of course the fritos, cheese and onions. They also served, tea, coffee, water, Crystal light they went to a lot of trouble to make it a success. Thank God for family and friends. It is heartwarming to see how many people care enough to give of themselves and make a difference in the lives of people they will possibly never meet. Everything is going great guns and we were busy getting the clothing switched to “WINTER” as you can see the families have already picked up and are getting the kids coats and jackets ready for the cooler weather. We have had a wee chill some mornings and everyone is ready to bundle up. The food bank is still steady and we are lucky we are able to help as we do have a well stocked pantry. The JAMM is still JAMMIN and we are bebobbin right along. November was the month to end all months. We truly met ourselves coming in and going out and turning in circles ALL at the same time. We were the lucky recipients of the Murray State College PBL/SODEXO Food Drive which gathered 1500 cans and miscellaneous food items. That is a whole lotta food in our wee office. We also received our first batch of coats, courtesy of 4H and Varsity Cleaners in Tishomingo. 100 coats/jackets. Great Donation. We have picked up lots of TOYS from businesses in town from our TOYS for TOTS boxes which are mostly stocking stuffers, but really good ones. Angela and I took a trip to Wal-Mart in Durant to buy what we needed with the Toy Run Money. They always treat us so well in Durant Wal-Mart and they have a good selection to choose from. We also go to the Dollar Tree in Durant where we get Christmas candy and cookies to put in our baskets at a really good buy. The “BIGGEST” project of December was saying goodbye to Pauline Tolbert who has been a big part of the axle who has kept the wheels turning at our agency for the past 30 years. Pauline retired and she will be sorely missed. Shelley Prince has taken over the reins and she is galloping right along. I really like Shelley and she will do a super job. We were really busy and I believe we had a very successful Christmas program, maybe the biggest for each family. We done baskets for 39 families with kids (149) and 11 families of senior citizens. It was awesome. We gave lots of groceries as we had been so blessed by numerous donations of food and we had enough money from our toy run to ball all the extras to make them really good “GOODIE” baskets. It took several trips to the car to get it all with presents and boxes etc. They were all pleasantly surprised at what they got. I think it made everyone feel good. We got food donations from MSC PBL, SUDEXO clubs, Good Sams Recreational Group (NORMAN) and Chickasaw Nation Upward Bound so we were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for our project. People as basically good and kind hearted. We have gotten 158 coats/jackets delivered to us this winter all nicely cleaned and pressed courtesy of 4H and Varsity Cleaners in Tishomingo. It is so funny but as soon as we get the shipment in here come the public to get a coat and we have been having some chilly days so it has been busy. All our programs are doing well, some busier than others on certain days and then the tide turns and it’s the others time to be busy but it all evens out in the long run. Everyone in our office has pulled their weight helping, wrapping, bending and stretching, putting up groceries, putting them in boxes and carrying on their regular duties. No complaints everyone just laughing and working like we have good sense. Pleasant surroundings make everything so much easier. I am glad to be where I am working with folks I work with. Well I guess this wraps up 2010 and it was so much fun we’ll try it again. {2011} Hope to catch you next year. HAPPY & HEALTHY NEW YEAR TO ALL.
