His last no reception game was against Southern Miss (10/9/10) ... In that stretch Bodenheimer has 97catches for 953 yards and three touchdowns. • Shane Carden went 7-for-10 for 56 yards in the opening quarter and has gone 32-for-40 for 482 yards and three throwing scores in first quarters over the last four weeks. ... Carden connected on 14-of-17 attempts for 146 yards and a touchdown in the first half against Navy ... In first halves over the last three weeks, the sophomore is 42-for-55 for 565 yards and three touchdowns ... Carden threw his first interception in 116 passes on his 23rd attempt against Navy in the fourth quarter. • Justin Hardy extended his consecutive games with a reception to 19 with a five-yard catch in the first quarter (10 last season and all nine games this season) - a streak that covers every game in his ECU career ... Hardy caught his ninth touchdown pass of the season off the nine-yard pass from Carden to start the second quarter ... The sophomore has now caught a touchdown in 12 of his last 13 games (eight of nine this season) and has a touchdown reception in 15 of his 19 career games. • Chip Thompson’s interception in the second quarter was the third one of his career and the first ECU pickoff since he also intercepted a pass at the end of the UTEP game (9/29/12) to help seal that win ... Five of the team’s six interceptions this season have come at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. • After missing the last three game with a concussion sustained on the opening kick against UTEP, Reggie Bullock made his return to the active roster in the second quarter and scored on a two-yard touchdown run ... The touchdown scored was Bullock’s first since he scored three against Navy last season (10/22/11) ... He added his second rushing touchdown of the game from five-yards out in the fourth quarter ... All six of Bullock’s career scores have come via the ground. • Vintavious Cooper scored his fourth rushing touchdown of the season with a 15-yard rush in the fourth quarter ... Cooper has now scored four touchdowns (three rush and one receiving) in the last two games ... The carry also put Cooper at exactly 100 yards in the game and marked the third time this season he has reached the century mark (151 vs. UTEP and 172 vs. UAB) ... After losing the toss in six straight games over the last two seasons, the coin toss victory was the fifth straight by the Pirates this season. • The loss to Navy drops ECU to 1-3 all-time against the Midshipmen and 22-43 in non-conference games since 1997 ... The Pirates have also lost seven of the last nine non-conference games ... ECU has now lost 13-straight games when surrendering 200 or more rushing yards after allowing 512 yards on the ground to Navy ... With the loss, ECU falls to 5-4 on the season for the fifth time since 2006 (2006, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2012) and sees its non-conference record drop to 1-3 for the third straight year. • Navy’s 56 points scored were the third-most ever tallied by an opponent at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium (63 - Louisville in 1998 and 76 - Navy in 2010) ... The Midshipmen’s 563 total yards were the ninth-most total yards by an opponent at Dowdy-Ficklen ... The Navy team’s 512 yards rushing were the second-most recorded by the opposition at Dowdy-Ficklen and the third-most totaled on the ground by any opponent of East Carolina at any venue (536 - West Virginia - 2002 and 521 - Navy - 2010). • ECU’s offense was held to 338 yards in the game, which was the lowest output since the 233 yards against North Carolina (9/22/12). • Gee Gee Greene ran for 131 yards for Navy and was only the second opposing runner to reach the century mark against the Pirate defense (Nate Jeffery - UTEP - 134), who came into the game only allowing 123.1 yards on the ground per game (third in Conference USA) • Navy scored first on Marcus Thomas’ 17-yard rushing touchdown on the Midshipmen’s first possession to end a three-game streak of ECU denting the scoreboard first. • Navy added a second touchdown to the lead in the first quarter on Noah Copeland’s five-yard rush ... The 14 points scored by Navy in the first quarter were the most first quarter points allowed by ECU’s defense since the team gave up 14 in the opening stanza to South Carolina in the second week of the season. • The Pirates were held scoreless in the first quarter for the first time in the last five games ... In non-conference games this season, ECU was outscored in the opening quarter by a count of 42-0. • The 37-yard rush by Navy’s Keenan Robinson in the first quarter was the longest run of the season against ECU’s defense. • The 14 points scored by the Pirates in the second quarter tied a season-high for points in the second stanza (14 vs. App. State - 9/1/12). • Carden’s nine-yard touchdown pass to Hardy in the second quarter gave ECU a TD passing in 14 of the last 15 games ... The touchdown was the first Pirates’ score of the game and allowed the team to avoid the shutout for the 189th consecutive games ... The last time that ECU was blanked was on Oct. 4, 1997 against Syracuse in the Carrier Dome (56-0).
• The 21 points given up by the Pirates in the third quarter to Navy were a season-high for any quarter and the most points allowed in a quarter since the team gave up 21 points to Southern Miss. in the first quarter last season (11/5/11). Trends • In home games this season, Vintavious Cooper has run for 371 yards • In home games this season, Justin Hardy has 29 catches for 301 yards and five touchdowns .... In nine career games at Dowdy-Ficklen, Hardy has 62 catches for 595 yards and eight touchdowns. • Vintavious Cooper has run for at least 50 yards in each of the last seven games including a pair of games with over 150+ rushing yards. • Shane Carden has thrown for 1,444 yards and 10 touchdowns in his last five games.
