Youth Mental Health First Aid October 28 | 8:30 am—5 pm Traver Center YMHFA introduces participants to the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents, builds understanding of the importance of early intervention, and teaches individuals how to help an adolescent in crisis or experiencing a mental health challenge. Those who participate will learn the risk factors and warning signs of a variety of mental health challenges common among adolescents, including anxiety, depression, psychosis, eating disorders, AD/HD, disruptive behavior disorders, and substance use disorder. $10 includes lunch and manual Childcare available if needed, please let us know if you are interested Registration forms in Trunk Hall or online www.twinspires.org/nurse

C&O Towpath Bicycle Ride October 1 | 2:30 pm Point of Rocks Parking Lot The ride is a loosely organized ride to promote fellowship, fun, and family within our congregation. Please arrive and be ready to leave at 2:30 pm, we will begin the ride as a group; however everyone is free to turn around and return to Point of Rocks. It will be a “no drop” ride, which means if you ride slowly someone will hang back with you, no rider will be left behind. Also a bicycle pump will be available before the start of the ride. Participants are required to wear a helmet, and have a bell or noise maker on their bike. Please call the church office to RSVP.
A two-act comedy, “Bus Buddies,” will be held in the Shepherd’s Chapel on Oct 13 and 14 at 7 pm and on Oct 15 at 1 pm Tickets are $15 and all proceeds will go to Lutheran Disaster Relief for hurricane victims, ELC’s Quilt Ministry and the Frederick Arts Council. The play, written by ELC member Nancy Luse and directed by Rachel Smith, involves a shady politician, a hot-shot reporter, a ditzy senior citizen (played by our own Richelle Emerick) and a band of assorted bus riders.
