STILL TIME TO SUPPORT CHRISTMAS CLEARING HOUSE! Continued donations can be made to Christmas Clearing House! Christmas Clearing House can assist additional clients, but it all depends on you! Although the main operation of taking applications and distributing gift cards has already taken place, there are still applicants in need. This is where your kindness and generosity come in. Giving to Christmas Clearing House now allows for more applicants to receive gift cards. These are families who did not receive aid during the initial distribution due to the large number of people ahead of them who had already been served. Giving to CCH now fulfills the ongoing prayers and wishes of clients still needing aid, still unsure if they will be able to provide Christmas for their families. Feel free to drop a check in the mail (PO Box 1444, Anniston 36202), or pop into the Interfaith office at 1431 Gurnee Ave., Anniston, AL, 36201, noting that the donation is for CCH. Donations can also be made online at interfaithcalhoun.org. Your online donation can also be specified to go to CCH. Let’s keep the Christmas spirit of giving rolling!

DID YOU KNOW? SenioRx Program Not Just For Seniors The prescription assistance program at Interfaith Ministries, commonly known as “SenioRx”, isn’t only for senior citizens. The program is designed to help anybody without insurance, or who are underinsured when it comes to much-needed and

often very expensive prescriptions. The prescription program has even aided teenagers needing required medication as required by their doctor. Application to the program may be made in person at the Interfaith Ministries office. Once required documentation is received the intrepid SenioRx coordinators Norma Cosby and Kathy Gaines work their phones calling pharmaceutical companies in order to find the required medication at low or no cost to the client. Both Norma and Kathy agree the biggest payoff in their job is to see the gratefulness and hope that many of their clients show when the needed, often life-saving, medication is on it’s way!

Interfaith Ministries Christmas Tree is adorned with the prayer requests of our staff, volunteers and clients. Please come by and take a request to pray over or leave your own request on the tree.

The $34.00 That Changed A Life Many of us consider $34.00 to be a full tank of gas or a quick dash into the grocery store for a few items. A quick swipe of a card and blip, it’s gone; an amount that doesn’t keep us awake at night. But what would you do if that $34.00 was all that stood between you and the possibility of a job? What would you do if that $34.00 was all that stood between you and the possibility of a job for which you had studied and were qualified? Recently, Emergency Assistance had such a client. The client had dreams of becoming a teacher and raising the quality of life for her family. However, taking care of her family, along with studying and training, had depleted her finances. She was unable to afford, in the mandatory time-frame, the $34.00 on-line job application and processing fee required by local school systems. It looked like her desire to become a substitute teacher, and eventually a certified teacher might be lost. Fortunately, Emergency Assistance paid her fee, and Financial Director Laura Fuller helped her get her application properly submitted. Though some clients receive aid and don’t report the outcome, this client called the very next day. She had found out that her application had been processed successfully and was under consideration! She had made the first of many steps toward achieving her dreams, and was profusely thankful to Interfaith, and especially to Laura Fuller for her care and concern!

Everyone needs a helping hand from time to time.

Got An Hour? Join The

Meals On Wheels Dream Team! It’s wonderful to report that the client base for Meals on Wheels is growing! In 2015 we served almost 15,000 meals. This year, 2016, we are on target to serve 17,500 meals. That’s 2,500 more meals going out to benefit our elderly neighbors needing consistent nutrition to maintain or improve their health. This means we need even Mrs. Gunnels is one of our more volunteers! We have 11 routes that many Meals on Wheels clients who rely on the daily lunch serve Anniston and Oxford, delivering hot delivery for consistent nutrition. lunches Monday through Friday. It takes about an hour to deliver a route, and is a fulfilling way to spend a little time. MOW needs volunteers who want to commit to running a specific route, whether that be once a week or once a month. Many volunteers are members of Sunday School classes or even groups of friends who rotate the responsibility, then all go out to lunch after the deliveries! Our business partners contribute teams of volunteers, and we are always seeking more companies who want their employees to be active in community service. We also need volunteers who want to substitute for other drivers, (who may be unable to deliver because of the logistics of life – like vacations!). This is a valuable way to serve as your time allows. For you potential new volunteers – call Meals on Wheels and schedule a ride-along with either Nancy or Julie, MOW Co-Directors. It’s a great way to learn the ropes of the program. When you decide to become a Meals on Wheels volunteer you will be joining the dream team of volunteers! Our corps of volunteers is stalwart in their commitment and is hands-down the greatest asset of the program.
