DEFAULTS Team Default Policy: The clock starts at the scheduled time, regardless of whether teams are ready. If a team is not ready to play within 5 minutes of the start time, a default is declared. Defaulting teams lose the game and risk being excluded from playoffs.
THE PLAYERS Eligibility:

Team Roster: Players on the IMLeagues.com roster will appear on the gamesheet and will be eligible to play. Players not on the IMLeagues roster may sign-in at the game, but then must join the IMLeagues roster by the next business day. Players not appearing on the IMLeagues roster by the next business day are considered ineligible, and their team is assigned a loss.
Game Roster:
A full complement is six (6) players on the court. To avoid a default, a team must have at least five (5). If teams play with five, a “ghost” player is designated on the court. When the “ghost” position is at serve, the team forfeits their serve and the opposing team serves again. The “ghost” does not have to be rotated through the playing positions (i.e. teams may play with three players in the front row and two in the back at all times). Co-Rec League: Teams may play with a maximum of three (3) players of one gender.
Substitutions: Teams are permitted unlimited substitutions during a match. All substitutions must be made in the service area (either in to serve or out of serve).
PLAYING EQUIPMENT Uniforms:
Teams are not required to wear matching uniforms. Players are strongly courage to remove all rings, watches, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and any other facial piercing when participating in an Intramural activity. The Referee and Intramural staff will have the final say as to whether a player’s uniform is safe to participant in. Game balls will be provided by Campus & Community Recreation.
LAWS OF THE GAME The league rules will follow the FIVB Rules of the Game, with the following amendments:
During the regular season, all matches are timed at 18 minutes, with 2 minutes of transition time to the next match. A horn will be sounded at the scorer’s table at the end of time. Regular season matches are capped at 25 points and may end in a tie. Timeouts: Teams will be permitted one 30-second timeout per game, except in the last 2 minutes of each match (as all matches are timed). Teams have the option to use a libero. The libero must be identified (wear the provided pinnie) and must be used throughout an entire set. Teams can only use a libero if they have
a full squad (6 players). Teams can change libero after each set of a match, but cannot change the libero during a set.
PLAYOFFS Playoff Format: Playoff matches are a single set with a hard cap at 25 points (i.e. a team can win 25 – 24). Playoff Eligibility: For a player to be considered eligible for the playoffs they must have signed-in and played in at least one (1) game. It is the team Captain’s responsibility to ensure all players sign in prior to game time. Players that do not sign-in are not given credit for having played.
Default Score: If a team defaults a game they will be assigned a loss with a score of 25-0.
