Island Park welcomes new Lincoln Orens Middle School Principal The Island Park Public Schools are pleased to introduce Dr. Bruce Hoffman as the new Principal of Lincoln Orens Middle School, effective as of July 1. For the past four years, the role has been held by Vincent Randazzo, who will transition to an Assistant Superintendent post. Dr. Hoffman joins Island Park from the Lindenhurst Public Schools, where he has served as an Assistant Principal at Lindenhurst Middle School for the past 11 years. He initiated the school’s science research program, which is dedicated to providing students with opportunities to work closely with science teachers to discover deeper meaning within research topics they choose to study. Enrollment grew from 10 students to 60 during his tenure. As the district prepares for science lab improvements that are part of the bond that was approved earlier this year, Dr. Hoffman will be be involved in the addition of a science research program at Lincoln Orens. Dr. Hoffman obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Old Westbury, his Master of Science Degree in Technology, Education and Multimedia from LIU C.W. Post and his Doctor of Education Degree in Educational Administration, Leadership and Technology from Dowling College. He focused his dissertation on the effect of cooperative learning on bullying in the middle school setting, and his research found correlations between cooperative learning and positive experiences in the school environment. “It gives me great pleasure to welcome Dr. Hoffman to Island Park,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Rosmarie Bovino. “We know that his educational technology background and experience with science research programs will prove immensely helpful to us as we plan our new technology education classrooms and science labs. Dr. Hoffman is also keenly aware of youngsters’ developmental interests and needs. We look forward to the contributions he will bring to our district.”
