And so, dear friends, we have reached the end of another wonderful year at PMFS. We would like to recap for you all that the PTO has been up to since the dark, cold days of winter. We especially want to offer thanks to all of you, who have helped the PTO reach its goals in support of our school and the PMFS community. MLK Day of Service: Thank you to Sonia Rosen and Heather Gibson for chairing this very successful day of social justice and service. Heather’s Equality light box was a beautiful showcase for students’ art. Thanks also to Chris Babb, Heather Gibson, Leann Stover Nyce, Lauren Ballester, and Sarah Sweeney-Denham for helping to create the social justice piece; to Ali Conlon for coordinating the breakfast bags for our friends at ACLAMO; and to the 5th grade for delivering the breakfast bags and winter coat collection to ACLAMO. PTO-Sponsored Parent Talk – PMFS History Walk n’ Talk. On Feb. 10, 4th grade teacher Will Starr gave a very engaging presentation on the history of the PMFS campus and Plymouth Monthly Meeting (complete with ghost stories!). Thank you to Sarah Sweeney-Denham for laying the groundwork for this Parent Interest Talk. Just Between Friends Clothing Sale: Following up on our fall Gently Used Clothing Sort n’ Sale day and our participation in last September’s Just Between Friends consignment event, we sold more clothing at the March JBF Sale. Thank you to Ali Conlon and Nicole McEntee for prepping and tagging all those spring and summer items. This school year we raised $1109 with these used clothing sales. Dining Out Events: Delicious! Thanks to Erin Schmitt for organizing these dining out opportunities. This spring we had one dining out day at Pizzeria Uno, followed by a whole week at Trolley Car Diner. Our dining out events raised $590 this year, surpassing last year’s $531. Thank you to everyone who ate in support of PMFS! Screen Free Week: We had a fun afterschool playdate on the playground during Screen Free Week. It was great to see such a wide age range of kids! Thanks to Ali Conlon and Jessica Lember for organizing snacks and crafts and Jim Hayes for leading an energetic multi-age game of Capture the Flag and letting us borrow gym equipment, and Linda Metzler for Capture the Flag coaching and kid wrangling. Lunch Program: We are so very grateful to have had Linda Metzler and Kris Boward at the helm of our Lunch Program this year. Linda has stepped down and we thank her for her multiple years of overseeing our lunch program. We thank Andrea Hanratty for helping out Kris for the second half of this year. And thank you to all of you who support this important fundraiser by ordering lunches for your kids. Box Tops: Thanks to Christina Latzko for collecting and mailing in our Box Tops this year. So far we have raised $245 and that doesn’t even include the Box Tops that were just mailed off in June. Remember to keep cutting Box Tops and collecting over the summer!
Giant, Target & Amazon Smile Update: Thank you to Shannon Mullican for Chairing our passive fundraising programs this year. We’ve raised over $653 this year thanks to your signing up for these programs and shopping as you’d usually shop. If you haven’t signed up with Amazon Smile yet, we encourage you to do so at smile.amazon.com. Email your PTO Co-Clerks with any questions you have about signing up. Strawberry Festival: Phew! And Fun! One of the most highly anticipated days on the school calendar and the pinnacle of parent participation at PMFS. We are eternally grateful to Ali Conlon and Kris Boward for Chairing this massive event. And thank you to all of you, who volunteered for one, two, three and four different things over the course of the day…THANK YOU! Our kids had a blast!
Outgoing PTO Officers With much gratitude and love, we thank Jessica Lember for her two years of PTO leadership as Co-Clerk, Donna Cox for her spreadsheet savvy during her two years as Co-Treasurer, and Rebecca Heider for her speedy Minutes taking as Recording Clerk this year. Administrative and Faculty Reps Thank you to Ralph Henninger and Gladys McClendon for not only attending many PTO meetings, but also providing us with your important insight into our school and program. Thanks and Farewell to Departing PMFS Parents If this is your family’s last year at Plymouth Meeting Friends School, we want to thank you for the many ways each of you has supported the mission and program at PMFS over the years.
Enjoy the summer and we will see you in September!!
